Autumn is settling ever more firmly into the high-altitude Carpathians 🍂 The air already carries a cool crispness, nights are growing colder, and the first touch of frost serves as a reminder: it is time to wrap up one's tasks and prepare for winter.

Today holds a special day and an intriguing surprise in store for a young village girl. She is heading into the autumn forest, having long dreamed of gathering mushrooms. Nature hasn't been overly generous with mushrooms this year, yet this walk will still bring her a delightful surprise 🌲🍄

There is still plenty to do at home. Together with her little brothers, she will harvest carrots and cabbage from the garden, aiming to get the crop stored away before true winter sets in. She will also tend to the flowers touched by the first frost, preparing them for the coming year.

And today promises a real mushroom treat 🍄 She will sauté the mushrooms she found and prepare some to pickle for winter, so they can be enjoyed on cold winter evenings.

And, of course, a cozy home-cooked dinner awaits ❤️ Today, we’re making an authentic Transcarpathian meat roll—aromatic, juicy, and incredibly delicious!
