There is so much to see in Colorado and a lot you probably never heard of, so I made a video of things you probably didn't know existed in this great state.

Map of everything awesome in Colorado here https://coloradonativeguide.com/

Colorado native has been traveling all over Colorado for decades driving thousands of miles and hiking hundreds of miles every year and has recorded a large amount of the state whether it is the pristine wilderness of the High Rockies, the plains on the east side, or the red rock canyons on the west. On this channel you will find everything about Colorado even those obscure and strange places people rarely know about.

We never really think about scale very often, but Colorado is larger than the entire United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Malta and Cyprus combined (with about 5,000 square miles to spare). The combined population of those nations would be about 82.5 million people, Colorado has just over 6 million.

Fun fact: There were Japanese internment camps in Colorado, but there were no Japanese Americans from Colorado in them. Governor Ralph Carr refused the federal order to round up Japanese Americans; when FDR threatened to send troops to enforce the order, Carr responded that if he did, they'd be met by the Colorado National Guard at the Kansas border. There is a bronze statue in Sakura Square honoring Carr.

The La Garita Caldera is a former super volcano. It was one of the largest eruptions in history. It erupted something like 28 million years ago.

You can also see the KT boundary 3 places in Colorado. Trinadad State Park, Corral Bluffs in Colorado Springs, and South Table Mountain in Golden. I've only checked out the one in Trinidad, it was about half a mile up the trail. It is amazing to see that little line and think that on one side of that little line dinosaurs. On the other side no dinosaurs. That line is about 65 million years ago. Kinda wild to think about that too.

As a bonus if you're in Trinidad in September or October and head up the Santa Fe Trail through the Comanche Grassland, you could see the tarantula migration. That was a bit of a surprise.

Was born and raised in Colorado and didn't know some of these. Didn't know about the Ice Caves near Aspen for instance.

I am a native Coloradoan and was unaware of the weather modification thingy. This was an extremely dry winter; apparently the thingy didn't happen.

I rode an ATV around one of the test sites in parachute and the mosquitoes were massive. Didn't know it was a test site until we rode out and read the sign. This was in 2007.

In regards to the underground coal fire near New Castle (actually smoldering due to lack of oxygen), you can see exactly where it lays underground every time it snows because those hillside areas melt quickly, outlining where the heat is coming from. There is also an underground coal fire at the old coal mining town of Somerset, not far from Paonia, that produces visible smoke occasionally
