He’s singing it totally differently. A lot of the words are pronounced differently and and his voice is a lot softer and smoother. It sounds fabulous. I love this version so much. I might like this better than the original.
one thing i love about Breaking Benjamin is how they adapted to how their sound is. example, in original So Cold, Ben sings in higher, more harsher notes. signifying they're rock style. in this acoustic, Ben sings in softer, very sober and lower notes, as a contradiction to the rock counterparts. you can see this in all of their songs. LOVE YOU BB!!
A little Breaking Benjamin trivia: this performance was on 9/29/2004, which was 22 days after Ben Burnley fired the band’s original drummer, Jeremy Hummel. So this was during the awkward transition phase when they were looking for a new drummer. They would find a new permanent drummer at the start of 2005 in Chad Szeliga, but in the meantime they used the assistance of temporary drummers Kevin Soffera and BC Vaught. (Of course, now in 2019, Chad’s gone too, and they’ve replaced him with Shaun Foist, but you get the idea.)
