The Transformers for GAMERS™

Studio Series Gamer Edition is often considered one of the weakest Transformers toy lines in recent years, but does it really deserve that reputation? Find out today as we take a look at every single figure in the entire toyline across this very short 84 minute video.

I'm extremely tired.

Why do I do this?

If you like these videos, please consider becoming a channel member to support the show. I have member exclusive content on the way, however this video is a passion project I've been wanting to make since the branding was retired last year, (At least, as much of a passion project as a toy review can be,) so finishing this has been my top priority, even before I offered memeberhips on the channel. Any support, financial or otherwise, is extremely appreciated.

Huh….. did not expect a video about War for Cybertron to be particularly relevant today, but here we are

0:46 actually those are programmer socks, ours are teal.

Also I just realized I don't have time to watch the full video right now, but I can already tell it's gonna be kino.

This video reignites my hope for Gamer Edition figures of the Angry Birds Transformers cast. With the release of the Sonic crossover figures and with Rovio now being owned by Sega, it’s possible this will come to fruition.

Watching this video made me re-attach the DNA kit for Optimus, the taillights and shoulder wheels from which I originally had stored away because I felt they made the transformation less fun. Now that I defaultly go to other toys, I realized the look of the parts now outweighs the cost to functionality, which was originally more prominent to me than it is now.
Additionally, I can confirm that Bumblebee is the worst of the four Reactivate toys. For a while, I had completely avoided transforming it entirely because that step where you pull out the windsheild is so abhorrent, but I remember having tabbing issues with the arms going into car mode as well. Just now, though, the arms behaved just fine, and this whole time I was fully aware that the windsheild thing is supposed to be done first. If you pull the windsheild out of his spine before doing anything else, it won't get caught into the roof and be impossible to work with. That said, I also just don't like that he is taller than basically every other modern deluxe, but I actually do like the design except for the puppy eyes on his shoulders.
The other Gamer Edition figure I have (other than the other three Reactivate guys, who are just shy of peak) is Ratchet, whom I got sort of on a whim, but think he is actual peak.
Edit: forgot that the Devastation Bumblebee that is genuinely one of the best toys released at the Deluxe pricepoint is also technically from Gamer Edition.

One thing I noticed on my seekers is there is a sculpted in bezel on the cockpit that, if it had been painted, would have drastically helped the look

Apparently we are still getting wfc/foc but they just won’t have the gamer edition branding anymore

I wish we had Transformers Prime Studio Series figures

I really appreciate you she/her-ing Starscream, I'm a huge fan of the transfem subtext of her IDW incarnation. Also a big fan of the Mega Man music! I've been on a real Mega Man kick lately, so it was a pleasant surprise to be graced by it throughout the video, lol.

Welp now at least we got fall of Cybertron meg and prime with jetfire too, let's hope they don't mess up

@Pikminer-5087 3 weeks ago

There are figures from Devastation but like half of them are repaints, one of them is a pretty great Bumblebee, and one of them is a divisive Deluxe Optimus

@GinnyFan765 3 weeks ago

If you rotate Bumblebee’s waist fully 180, and do the same for his thigh swivels, it makes his legs look better, and it lets you use the ankle tilt.

Coming back to this video just to glaze the thumbnail, like bro I keep thinking about how much you cooked with this lmao

@MrJoshimusPrime 3 weeks ago

Regarding the Gamer Edition Optimus Prime, I actually have the MTMTE version, and let me tell you it's better than the original release. Not only because of the better painted axe, but also the battle damage details on the figure itself. I also took the liberty of getting some Toyhax stickers and an upgrade kit from Go Better Studios, which has now made the figure a lot better than before, at least in my opinion.

I think another reason for Hasbro's lack of interest for the line are the ss one figures, since those also are cybertronian designs and are from a more known and recent piece of media.

54:00 My brain is tickled when I hear Sonic Rush music

I had really been hoping for a reactivate ratchet figure, and the cancellation crushed my dreams…😔

@CalmDownandBr3athe 3 months ago

Great comprehensive guide. I skipped all of these for exactly what you said people disliked about them but you showed off alot of positives. Bee, the Seekers and Ratchet are now on my list, especially for the guns that they literally don't advertise hardly at all
