Hiking Price Lake - Beautiful Alpine Lake in the North Cascades!

Price lake is a stunning turquoise lake nestled at the foot of Mount Shucksan. The route to reach the lake is rugged, with no official trail and a boot path which often vanishes into the forest. The reward for the climb is a look into a remote corner of North Cascades National park, solitude, and an up close look at one of Shucksan's mighty glaciers. Enjoy!

Note: this route involves a potentially dangerous river crossing, and crosses dense forest with no proper trail. Navigational skills and comfort with going off trail are needed to complete the route safely.

The Price Glacier, like all of those in the North Cascades, is shrinking. When a friend and I scrambled up there in 1978, what is now the hanging part of the glacier up the valley extended continuously all the way into the upper end of the lake. The route has changed very little over the last 48 years. Thanks for covering it so well.

10:50 Wow, that wasn't what I was expecting. That almost looks like something from Antarctica. That was amazing. Nooksack Cirque looks like it could be a fun three-day backpack. You could hike to the park boundary the first day and set up camp there; no permit needed. Then hike into the park early the next morning and spend the entire day exploring the glaciers. Return to camp and then hike back out the third day. This is one of your best hikes for sure. 😎👍

Thank you for doing this video! I’ve had Price Lake in my bucket list notebook for quite a number of years and I’ve yet to make the trek. I do have a GPX track for this route if you ever wanna compare notes.

Wow to the infinity!! My type of adventure! Loved the glacier! By the way I had a cat named Glacier. Her markings reminded me of one. She almost made it to 17.
