The algorithm may disagree with me, but I prefer these smaller projects over the super grand ones. They excite my curiosity more and feel more approachable for me to try something new.

Please, don't let me pick up Wood Whittling. I already started knitting because of you...

I discovered your channel about a month ago. And it's inspired me to try my hand at art, and I'm 72! My sister visited me last week and we painted rocks! Well, stones. They were about the size of a randomly-shaped kiwi fruit, and had been tumbled. We just let the stones "speak" to us, and had at it. Neither of us are painters, but we both rocked it! If you haven't painted rocks on your channel, maybe it's something you could have fun with. But for all of that, I think I'll leave the knives alone.

Anyone else want an updated video in a few months, with a fully whittled and painted fantasy gnomish chess set?

There is definitely something to be said for slow hobbies - I regularly have people tell me I must be so patient to crochet and that they could never. I always tell them that I took up crochet because I am not an inherently patient person and forcing myself to learn something that would slow me down has done wonders for my mental health 😊

This video brought back a long forgotten memory of sitting next to my grandad on the back porch whittling together when I was way too young to be doing such things (like 6 or 7). He was working on something intricate and I was making a stick out of a stick. Thanks for that pleasant moment of time travel, Jazza!

It is kinda cool to see Jazza come down from all these really big projects and do something small. It’s a nice change of pace that I think works well to vary his videos

Try spoon carving next! You don’t even have to worry about shaping a block of wood down into a spoon shape, it is very easy to purchase spoon blanks. And going along with your fantasy theme, you could carve spoons for different fantasy-based races, like a whimsical floral elven spoon, or a more geometric dwarven one.

I actually think it's really important that you start out not knowing what you are doing. It really drives home that no matter how naturally talented you are, art is a skill you learn.

I love the low poly aesthetic whittling tends to bring. Very often it just looks like something that could pop up in a cute retro themed Doublefine or Media Molecule game.
More people should just straight up whittle 90s video game characters. They're probably perfect templates for this.
