For many years, I wondered what was the writer's problem with Fred McGriff. He was an extremely nice guy every time I had ever encountered him.

I was truly shocked to hear about Ashburn He's one of the greatest leadoff men of all time. I remember being extremely happy when Lee Smith was put in.

The Crime Dog was always worthy. He had longevity, solid stats, and star power.

I got to talk to Harmon Killebrew at a signing event years ago. I mentioned watching him play, but when I mentioned Tony Oliva his eyes lit up and he thanked me for remembering his friend. I was so glad that the committee included him into the HofF. I was also really happy that they got Ron Santo in as well. All these men you mentioned were more than deserving.

The fact that David Cone and Dave Stieb we're left out of the Hall of Fame and Jack Morris (it confirmed idiot and Petty human being).is on the veterans committee who picks who gets in the Hall of Fame says all you need to know about the process. Does anyone think that Morris, who had unfair and shity things to say about Steib, and many other of his fellow pictures during his career would ever vote for their election?

How in the hell did those writers only give Goslin a single vote. I mean he was top 3 on this list and better than more than a few other hall of famers.

Luis Tiant!!!!

Jeff Kent is to me one of the greatest reasons the this bull shit system they use to elect players now. He was the greatest 2B of his era and one of the greatest of all time. It’s almost criminal

I'm sorry, but number 1 is a guy you didn't even mention: Johnny Mize. Mize was the premier slugger in the NL during his career and missed three full seasons to service in the Navy during WW2.

The Fred Mcgriff snub is just crazy. Will always make me scratch my head.

The Cobra! My favorite player growing up in Pittsburgh. Not only a great player but played with a flair. The way he batted, the way he “snatched” fly balls in the outfield, the huge outfield arm - there was no one like Parker. After his defense dipped he was still a dangerous hitter and was a perfect addition to the late 80’s, early 90’s Oakland A’s.

You could make a reasonable argument for Joe Torre. Torre made the HOF as a manager via the committee, but he was a darn good player, too with MVP hardware, 9 time All-Star, and a 129 OPS+ He and John McGraw are the only HOF managers who arguably could have made it as players.

My top 5 snubs -

1. Arky Vaughan- gold glove level SS with an OPS + of 135. Cal Ripken Jr had an OPS+ of 112 and received 98.5% of the vote. Bill James ranks Vaughan as the #2 SS of all time behind Honus Wagner.

2. Johnny Mize- Mize lost 3 prime years serving in WW2. His first full season after the war, he hit 51 HRs. If he had those 3 seasons, he would have bern close to 500 HRs. His SLG is .562 is 16th all time with 3 active players and 3 steroid users ahead of him. A top 10 slugger. His OPS+ 158 is 19th ahead of Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Joe DiMaggio and Shohei Ohtani and 24% higher than Fred McGriff.

3. Eddie Plank 326-194 with a 2.35 ERA, ERA+ 122. Of post 1900 pitchers, he is the only 300 game winner not elected by the BBWAA, not counting steroid users. Of the other 16, only 8 had a better ERA+.

4. Dick Allen OPS+ 156, tied with Frank Thomas, ahead of Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and Joe DiMaggio.

5. Home Run Baker. His OPS+ of 135 is tied with George Brett for 4th among players who were primarily third basemen.. Only Mike Schmidt, Eddie Mathews and Chipper Jones are ahead of him. Ron Santo's OPS+ was 125, a full 10% worse than Baker.

You can see the personal grudges the BBWA writers had at the time because the numbers tell the story.

@keithbrescia7756 8 months ago

I would say that Tommy John is just as deserving as Jim Kaat. Out of his grand total of 288, he won 164 games starting at age 33 after the surgery that bears his name.

My jaw dropped after the 2nd name mentioned. By the time the list went to number one, my jaw had dropped so far inside the floor that I found an oil source

Eeen-ohs? Who’s that? It’s Eeen-us Slaugher…Where you from man? 😂 JK….great video

@Whirlpool730 1 year ago

It's been 2 years since your last HOF snubs list, so I think it's time for video 4! Not to mention, I believe you have a few players to replace on those lists as they have since been rightfully inducted.
