Teens in 2045: “I was born in the wrong generation”

Sounds like background music for the title sequence of a late 90's/early 00's teen movie and I'm so down for it 🙌

matty looks so happy singing this and that just makes me so incredibly happy. i’m so glad i found the 1975 they’ve absolutely saved me.

this song makes me wanna be a 17yo in america going to highschool, skating the whole day with my homies & thinking 'bout the girl i fell in love with.

'Oh it's okay, lots of people think i'm gay'
- Iconic KING Matty Healy

Gonna love when they play this at a show and the crowd screams "NAPPIES" as the background vocals

i feel like this album is gonna be just as self aware and sarcastic as i like it when you sleep

I’m trying to stay calm BUT HIS CURLS ARE BACK

Matty out here looking like Frodo Baggins

I’m trying to live out a 90s rom-com style life soundtracked to this song

Is it me, or did they totally dress up like late 90's/early 00's?

I'm enjoying how contrary Notes has been so far. This song just feels like you wanna bottle it up and watch it glow.

i’m supposed to be studying but this is way more important

It’s got elements of their song Paris and somehow I’m reminded of Semi-Charmed Life

this just proves yet again that the 1975 can’t write a bad song. can’t wait for the album and to see this live on tour :))))))))

his hair im literally gonna cry

Matty being cute and singing “I’ve been in love with you for ages”
Me: me too Matty, me too.

Adam has the audacity to wear a Michigan sweatshirt but we didn’t get a Michigan tour date 😭😭

lyrics:

[Verse 1]
I can't remember when we met because you didn't have a top on (A top on)
I improvised a little bit, she said my references were spot on (Spot on)
"Can I take you for a drink?" She said, "I'm gonna have to think
Because we're mates, it doesn't feel right" (Feel right)
And I said, "It's cool," and "I was messing" but it's true
Yeah, it's you, you're the one that makes me feel right

[Chorus]
I've been in love with her for ages
And I can't seem to get it right
I fell in love with her in stages
My whole life

[Verse 2]
I had a dream where we had kids
You would cook, I’d do the nappies (Nappies)
We went to Winter Wonderland
And it was shit but we were happy (Happy)
I'm sorry that I'm kinda queer, it's not as weird as it appears
It's 'cause my body doesn't stop me (Stop me)
Oh, it's okay, lots of people think I'm gay
But we're friends, so it's cool, why would it not be? (Not be)

[Chorus]
I've been in love with her for ages
And I can't seem to get it right
I fell in love with her in stages
My whole life [Bridge]
And that's been the way for me to say
That I felt a certain way in stages, oh
I think the story needs more pages, yes

[Outro]
I've been in love with her for ages (And ages)
And ages, I've been in love with her for ages (And ages)
And ages, I've been in love with her for ages
And ages, and ages, I've been in love with her for ages
And ages, and ages, I've been in love with her for ages
And ages, and ages (Yeah), I've been in love with you for ages
And ages, and ages (I've been in love, yeah), I've been in love with you for ages
And ages, I've been in love with you for ages

This is their “Just Like Heaven”
