No requirement to put in a larksfoot or clove hitch and it definitely doesn’t make it stronger (I’d be very interested in hearing your knowledge/science as to why you think it does). If you used a French prussik you’d actually have two rope round the carabiner

In fact, using any type of knot or hitch significantly weakens the rope. So, it doesn’t help the system work any better and it weakens the rope significantly. Best not to do it
