A lesson I learned was to avoid putting together sets and only focus on keys. I put together a 1956 set and in the end nobody wants a complete set unless there is a discount. Then the common singles are harder to get rid of and have to go back to a consignment sale to move them easily in my case. I probably won't lose any money, but most importantly I tied up a few thousand on commons that could have been invested in Jordan or something where my money could grow

I was a dealer between 1990-2016 and for me looking at the current market what jumps out is how much more dealers pay for the cards they want. In my day, 20 to 50 percent is what was paid, selling for 50-80 percent of book (exceptions for a few cards). Today, The instant click and comp I find makes it feel more like exchanging stocks rather than the collecting feel. And I won’t even start on the grading side which is becoming out of control.

Even 1/1s aren't scarce, it's getting ridiculous or the exact same card un numbered vs /10. Just because they add a number to the same thing that there's 100,000 copies of is so stupid.

Where should I start I have a whatnot and ebay store but no one seems to stay even when I have fast and good shipping? Thank you.

I sold my 1st collection and lost my ass. My current collection only has goats and high demand liquid cards like downtown and kaboom. I got rid of 200 autographs of unproven players at a card show last week for $1k. I sold off my Wemby cards and bought Kaboom cards. I am building a set of the original stained glass cards gallery of heroes and only grading 9’s or 10’s. Ohtani is Babe Ruth 2.0 and IMO a keeper. I believe I am finally on track building my PC

I like this guy, Ty.
He is very informative with experienced foresight.
Ty? Only concern I have is that on seabay if you ruffle the wrong feathery soul. Beit a buyer expecting you to go lower than you wish
so on and son on. What I am experiencing is a "frozen" type of seller hub, whether it be an auction or BIN, at some point my traffic was slowed to a crawl. Other then that I am 100% feedback and always on top of my shop , and bendable w/o breaking to all customers., yet no matter if I call seabay for assistance or contact support I stay the same. Like, a "favored" entity is paying for a lack of eyes on my items...?
