You’re so lucky that you got the pink dolphin while it was still available ❤

My wife's been driving an Atto3 for nearly 2 years now, and we both really like it.  The Dolphin is just like a slightly smaller and funkier version which is so cool of BYD to make, especially given it has the same battery and power as the Atto.  I agree with you re the tyres, they are crap haha!  It's crazy that you can break traction even in the dry lol.  Keep up the great work with your reviews, you have a real knack at making great videos!  They are fun to watch and very informative.

I just set up my Apple Watch today to unlock the Dolphin with an NFC tap without any button presses. I like that I don’t have to worry about keeping track of another item like a card. The NFC, if placed in the central storage compartment should also allow you to drive off without the key.   I iMessaged the digital key to my partner and now she can unlock and drive the car with her phone.

My Dolphin was built March 2025 and comes with Hankook Evo tyres now.

You are officially one of my favourite people ever! I always get excited for your ev vids and now that I saw you wear a TLOU shirt you’ve hit 100000% awesomeness 🤣 even my husband is a fan now! He absolutely loves TLOU□□

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I have been driving a BYD Dolphin Ext. in Thailand since August 2023 and am very satisfied after 48,000 km. The built quality is really very good. I used to drive Mazda and the Dolphin is very close to it. Of course, they are cheaper materials, but BYD has processed them very nicely.

The driving characteristics are very good. The space in the back is also good. But here I miss ventilation nozzles at the back. BYD has already introduced the new Dolphin with improved interior.

Not so good are the assistance systems (ADAS), compared to my former Mazda cars; as well as the driving lights. The infotainment system has been greatly improved since 2023.

Love your videos!  I have had the same Dolphin for almost a year and love it. Agree with all your points but would add the following. Love that some of the intrusive ADAS like traffic sign recognition can be permanently turned off unlike most other cars. No bings and bongs in normal driving. Dashcam is easy to add later.  Two things I don’t like though.  The cargo parcel shelf is a bit flimsy and comes out of its slots. And the front vents reflect on the windscreen although I don’t really notice this anymore. Car feels rock solid and zero warranty issues.

My daughter went nuts over the pink version of the Dolphin when we seen them on display at a shopping centre. Since then she's discovered the Seagull exist and when i test drove the Seal & Sealion 7 she questioned the staff about wanting the Seagull(they believe the Seagull will make it here as well). These small EVs are excellent second cars with a bigger family vehicle and i wish they were more popular. Great to see you still love the car after a year, and hope it holds up for many more. Personally Im hoping to get the Seal later in the year if we get the 2025 refresh model.

I rarely use the three fingers to change the temperature or fan speed, especially if I’m driving. I prefer to use the voice control to set the temperature and adjust the fan speed. Hey BYD my bum is cold will turn on the seat warmer.

there aren't many younger car reviewers. most are literal dads. so I love your perspective. please continue, more cars

Thank you for the video.  It's good to know what real-life thoughts are out there, apart from the 'drove it for a week' review.  Makes you wonder why so many manufacturers are going for only dull colours.  A good thing overall too, is the ability to novate lease EVs, which seriously helps with affordability.  Thank you also for explaining how not all charging stations charge the same and how this one was somewhat expensive.  People looking at EVs would probably think there isn't much difference in cost, and worry at there being a 20+ minute wait.  But balance that with possible free or 8c/kW charging at home, and not having to top-up like this for weeks.  Anyway, thanks again! :)

1:14 you don't need to do that. Just don't turn off your car, step out of it, close the door and lock it with the key. The AC will stay on for as long as you need, no timer.
I never turn off my Tang while running errands.

I have also been inside the car, in the back seats, for several hours with no problem while I locked the car with the key. If you do this, the voice assistant is disabled, so it's better that you lock the car from the driver door.
I also do it regularly when I have passengers. I just leave them inside with the car locked and the AC running while I do something outside. They can all open the door from the inside of course. It's not like I trap them inside.

Getting mine in two weeks!

Nice video! Makes me want one! 😀👍🏼⚡️

Great job!!!

Just putting it out there that the Geely EX5 was $43,000 drive away. It is a fantastic vehicle!

1. If the keys are on range, you can press the key on the door handle to unlock the car. So leaving the car keys hidden inside the car isn't actually a good idea. Anyone can press the door key to unlock and then start the car and go.
2. You don't have to press the lock twice to make sure the car is locked. Just look if the mirrors are folded. If they are, then the car is locked.
3. If you press the remote start (leave the AC on as you said), any thief that breaks the window to get in can take the car and go. It won't ask for a key because the car is already on. (This, I haven't tested, but that's what I read).
4. If you leave the warning for back sits enabled, after 3 warnings (or so) it calls the emergency services which arrive at your car within minutes. It happened on the dealership while they were showcasing the Dolphin to some buyers. So, while being cool, it's also not something to play with.
5. The wireless charging pad is useless because there is no fan or AC hitting there, the phone gets overheated and all communications stop until it's cooled down.
6. If you lock your car with the windows open, it's a bit hit or miss if the windows will close or not. There have been left open at least 5 times within 5 months in my Dolphin, so I always have to look twice.

I have :) the 2025 early... model which has Hancook tyres, they grip really well, so far. :)

Hej there. This car will be sold in Europe from today and I find it very interesting, in order to remove pollution from our big cities. Unfortunately tariffs are pricing it at 20 thousand € circa. This is to avoid killing the european brands.

You are right about L.A, it felt like home when I was there last year.

People thought we were mad riding the Disney land rides on a 44 deg cel day lol

Our March 2026 Dolphin came with Hankooks so BYD listening there too. Different wheels though. I'm not sure which I prefer.
