You're not poor, you're just new. These people with large collections and huge wardrobes likely got everything over several years. Everyone starts somewhere, but PLEASE do not resort to fast fashion.
There is so much you can diy, such as modifying your clothes. You can paint a graphic on a plain shirt, you can make jewelry, sew little details, so and so. All easy to learn and very affordable.

On the “being poor” part, the whole point of being in a fandom is to have fun,as long as you’re having fun indulging is whatever cute core things you like that’s all that matters 💕 my bedroom is completely minimalist you probably couldn’t tell I like kawaii things, that’s why video games are such an amazing and affordable way to express our interests 💕💕

I'm a black cutecore boy, and one of the things I hate most about the cutecore community is the lack of different body types and also the overpricing of mezzo piano or angel blue shirts. I wanted  to weigh 160 just to wear mezzo piano clothes because so many people in the cutecore community are small, and they had the cutecore rooms. It made me sad that my room and wardrobe weren't cutecore enough and I didn't have the stuff I saw in those cutecore rooms. Nowadays, I'm satisfied with myself and I won't force my body to fit into children's clothes or have to have a cutecore room. I like to alter cutecore and just feel like me without having to HAVE everything the typical cutecore room and style. I'm glad you spoke about the problems in the cutecore community because there are genuinely toxic people.

the comments some people make are so disgusting. it’s so gross that some people in the cutecore community focus so much on race and ethnicity.
honestly, I’ve noticed that cutecore as a style is quite elite, as rare merch and big brands sell for so much second hand. I agree completely with the fact that it feels like you need to have everything to even start to be in the cutecore community.
also, I’m so glad you mentioned mezzo piano. the clothing is literally made for kids, and yet no one ever talks about that. most cutecore people want mezzo piano, angel blue and such because they see it on other people, but what they don’t realize is how small the clothes truly are. it really adds this pressure to be so thin you can fit into kid sized clothes, which is so ridiculous and unhealthy. I actually have a mezzo piano shirt, but its way to small and could never fit me because ITS SIZED FOR A KID! and you know what, thats fine! it would be concerning if I actually could fit into it. beauty standards are so stupid!
and dont even get me started on re-sellers … I’ve seen people charging hundreds of dollars for damaged clothing just because of the brand.

Omg, I'm so glad someone is talking about the body issues... 😭 because I was so insecure about my weight since I couldn't fit into any of the clothes (even though I wasn't even overweight to begin with.)  I would see people on TikTok post their fit checks and I felt so fat, wishing I could look like that. forgetting that a lot of the popular brands are KIDS brands. so obviously they're going to fit people who are underweight better compared to someone bigger.

As a Cutecore, I’ve noticed tiktok stripped away the actual Cutecore. Cutegore and Cutecore are supposed to be the same thing. But people didn’t want the creepy stuff in the aesthetic so they just made it cute. Bring back the true Cutecore aesthetic!

It saddens me that parts of the community can be so toxic because I love this style but sometimes feel uncomfortable around others in the community because of the toxicity. I fit into most of the standards except for the fact that I still don’t feel good enough and struggle with body issues. I’m glad you worded the part of your video about mezzo piano clothes the way you did because some people veer into body shaming territory and claim that anyone who can fit into these clothes automatically has an ED. It makes me feel really self conscious about my body type since I don’t have much for curves, and it just makes people assume I’m unhealthy. The problem is people trying to enforce the idea that everyone needs to be small or else they can’t wear this style, which is unhealthy because different body types exist. I don’t think shaming any type of body is ok, no matter if they’re bigger or smaller.

Omg it's so true, i barely can buy any cutecore clothes or kawaii plushies, because i already grew up in a poor family to begin with... I always scrolled through pinterest and i felt jealous when i saw those cute rooms and fit checks

i love the community in general its just the toxic people that ruin it for others saying "your too dark" and "your overweight" and that sort of stuff. being dark skinned isnt a bad thing, its like saying "oh i dont like your skin because its different" and thats disgusting, you cant just choose what kind of skin you have. its fine to have dark skin or pale skin. and the being overweight part? it doesnt mean your "fat"  it just means that you eat good and your not afraid to  eat like some people are, its shouldnt be something to be ashamed about. eating gives you proteins and other things like vitamins and nutrients. being underweight isnt bad either, it most likely means that you have a strict diet or a really fast metabolism and is usually very healthy as well because diets often mean eating healthy food, and a fast metabolism means you might work out a lot and stuff. people that say that "you need to be rich to be cutecore" are just spoiled, you do NOT need to be rich. you dont need mezzo piano or sanrio or anything expensive. you could go to a thrift store and buy cute things for cheap, andd you can collect things over the years and even use old things that you used to play with when you were younger. and even then, you dont need everything cute or anime or childish to be cutecore. you can even just have the clothes, its about having fun and expressing yourself, not competing against overs and who has more cute things or more expensive clothes. i might be a thin white cutecore female (80 pounds) but thats because im a minor and im still growing, you dont have to force yourself to eat less if you cant fit into kids clothes, you can just get a blank shirt that you actually fit into and then print out the design onto the shirt yourself for much cheaper anyways. it only costs like a few dollars depending if you need ink or the supplies to do so, its easier then buying a 50 dollar kids shirt you wont even fit into.

Thats terrible! Its not okay to act privlaged and rude to others for any reason, especially to people in the same subculture as you. I personally think anyone can participate in any style regardless of what material things they have or how they look. As an (i think) overweight person participating in the cutecore community I defidently feel pretty insecure about it, knowing I need to make my own clothes just to participate in something I enjoy. Its not okay that you were discriminated against for any reason whatsoever, since anyone can wear whatever they want and complexion shouldnt affect that. Your beautiful and I'm so glad you spoke out on this, as I have also been seeing growing hatred in the community and it isnt okay. I hope you have a lovely day!

The beauty standards and discrimination parts really hit me because yes i have had times were i questioned if it is normal for me to have asian toys and outfits and watch asian shows (Not all are anime) since my family is hispanic and play hispanic music and talk to me in Spanish. I have no problem with being apart of latino culture but i just felt like i was not meant to like anything from other cultures. I also felt weird being in the Cutecore community with my appearance. I have tanish yellowish skin and curly black hair while the kids at my school who are cutecore and other cutecore girls have pinkish pale skin and  straight blonde or brown amber hair and i see them in cutecore clothing and it just looked so much better on them. But this video really helped me understand that what i like as long as it makes me happy its not a problem and that nomader what anyone looks like we are still beautiful in our own ways♡:)

I have also experienced several bad things in this community.... My room is extremely cramped, so I can't decorate it... and my mother doesn't allow me to wear clothes like that because it's too "childish."
And many times, I saw people talking (on tiktok mainly) as if it were very easy to get what they have.
Besides most people refuse to accept different opinions. It's very annoying...

About a part of the video:

But they are destroying kawaii culture, they are Americans, damn, what do they mean by that if they themselves invented the term cutecore to be racist and xenophobic..
They should be thankful that kawaii culture has been globalized, they haven't ruined it and stepped on it as if it were their own, and most of them are TikTok pre-teens :(

my room is all sanrio,i’m a mixture of goth/cutecore but i don’t have really light items,some of my items are saved up so just know you are loved and just because how u look/ur culture,doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your fashion,i’m 100% british<3

apparently, SHEIN changed ? Idk I heard they aren’t doing the child labor thing anymore. But idk. EDIT:guys, if the kids shirts n stuff don’t fit you, turn them into a skirt, or mix all of them into a jacket or smt, maybe even a curtain or for a junk journal or decorating.

Some tips, 1:  if you see any toxic user, BLOCK THEM IMMIEDIETLY!! This can include p3d0phelia, z00philia, pr0shippinhg, f3tishisation, s3xualization, l0lic0ns/sh0tac0ns, gr00mers, s3xualized agepl4y, stereotypes, Asianfishing, etc, avoid those users if you wanna stay on the safe side of cutecore !!
2: if someone calls your room, your clothes, your items and especially YOU, ugly, your not. It’s important to feel confident with what you yourself have and your own body. Just because you can’t fit into some mezzo piano clothes which is a literal CHILDRENS BRAND, does not make you fat. And it’s okay to be plus sized or chubby!! That does not mean you deserve harassment. Only listen to educational and mature constructive criticism, even if something’s opinion based it will never ever give someone the excuse to be rude.
3: SAVE MONEY!! It’s important for alot more than just cutesy stuff. Make sure you have ENOUGH money to atleast buy essentials or pay rent if you want cutecore items. Don’t let it make you feel like a poser, or poor.
