https://youtu.be/QVwu1YGd8vg?si=U4kolRrLXpbd-GQ6 I made a video detailing the scrapped ending for Shadow of the Colossus. As a huge fan of the game, I was surprised by the concept of a happy ending and how different it would have been. I go through the storyboards published in the The World of Fumito Ueda book as well as look at some interviews with Ueda which talk about the ending direction change. Hope someone here enjoys it!
When I fist saw the photos of the unused collosi, they creeped me out. The low resolution, the fact that we can not see them in game, made them seem so… mystical, so … surreal. The screenshots looked like cryptid photos, adding to the eerie feeling. Remenants of their arenas are scattered through the lands making them seem like extinct creatures makes researching them so interesting, its a feeling that I can not explain.
It pains me how little we know about Yamori. No screenshots, no arena description, no pictures, every other colossus we know details, except Yamori. Very weird. Great video chief
Man the way how the old beta images look almost make it seem like the colossi were real at some point and with some of the objects making it over to the game really adds onto the vibe of this being an ancient land where you absolutely shouldn't be
Interesting that Evis and Malus are two different colossi, Malus would have been Buddha and where ever you find it’s location but Evis would have been the real final boss and I’d imagine a different location and fight itself.
I JUST WANT TO MENTION!!! There is a team of fans making and intergrading all of these bosses in a new port of the game called “Beyond The Forbidden Lands” where you will be able to play the game as if all of these were in the original release!!
The rock at 17:20 is the same one seen in D3 in the final game as this is where hillock was located before being scrapped and the 9th colossus was moved there. The other images are authentic, the source of these images is team stage 0 who got in contact with a dev, i know this because i am a member of the group. Same with the beta map and badlands image. The "pillars" seen in the spider screenshots are spider legs, not from the spider boss but the remains of other giant spiders, the devs wanted it's arena to be a spider graveyard type area
There's a hidden tragedy to some of the info he have, mainly the leaked Roc info that was relatively recent and a lot of Spider info.
A group that I think went by Team Stage 0 had a contact within the company slowly leaking info piece by piece. They only asked that the team wait a certain amount of time before sharing, presumably to protect the leaker from retribution from within the company.
One guy. One guy couldn't wait, and posted all the info online. Our one source to finally answer all our questions, gone forever because one guy couldn't chill for 5 minutes.
I've always been fascinated by the cut collossi, they seem extremely interesting, almost makes me want a mod to add them into the game, especially the spider
Shadow of the Colossus is my go to example when people say "games aren't art"...because everything about this game is like looking into an artistic masterpiece, and don't even get me started on the soundtrack.
