You can iron cotton watercolor paper if it buckles.
Lay it face down on a clean smooth cloth , then lay  another smooth cloth across the back.
I don’t like to use towels they are too textured and thick. And   I definitely don’t like microfiber. The cloth need  to be made of cotton. The iron can actually melt  some fabrics !
I use some clean ,cotton dish cloths .
Set your iron to cotton , and gently iron the buckled areas for a few minutes .
Do not  use steam!
After you finish ironing , place a heavy book ( or something flat like a cookie sheet , and then place  a heavy object on top of  that) on top and leave it for a few hours.
That should smooth out any of the buckled areas.
If it isn’t quite smoothed out, just repeat  the process.

Very lovely painting. I use Neo 2 as an underpainting for pastels. It works really well. Thank you for your tutorial.
