Quebec City is the most European. Been living  43 years in Montreal. Thank for this video.

Montreal is by no means perfect but as big cities go, it is freaking gorgeous and cool.

Montreal is awesome but Old Quebec in Quebec City is by faaaaar the most european city in all of North America, not even close lol

I grew up in Québec City and go back there regularly. I’ve been living in Montreal since 1992. While Montreal  is beautiful and old Montreal definitely feels European,  it is much larger and more cosmopolitan and that has had an influence on architecture and city infrastructure. All positive. Quebec City on the other hand, being quite smaller has managed to retain more of its European flavour and look over a larger area. Definitely worth a visit.

It's pretty funny that you're impressed that Montréal restaurants use local maple syrup – considering how much of the world's TOTAL maple syrup production is from Québec 😅!

Montrealer here.  If you wanna buy some maple syrup (you definitely should), don't get it at a market or tourist shop.  You're getting robbed.
Do like Montrealers do: go to a grocery store (Provigo, IGA, Maxi, etc.) and get your syrup in cans.  Make sure it says "maple syrup".
It keeps forever, and you'll pay a lot less then those fancy maple leaf bottles.  There are two kinds of syrup: light and dark.  Light comes from the early harvests, and tastes lighter; dark comes from late harvest, and has a stronger taste, with notes of caramel (my choice).

I feel so lucky to be a Montrealer. I have traveled extensively abroad, moved to Vancouver for 2 years, and had Florida for several more years but ended up returning to Montreal. It's my home.

Took a 5 day trip to Montreal last week and watching this video because I’m obsessing with going back asap. Loved everything about it but feel like I barely scratched the surface of what there is to see and do.

Thank you for your wonderful comments, however you forgot the most important. You are SAFE on our streets and we DO NOT carry guns. We much rather verbalise our disagreements. We have found by doing so we can start the argument over again the next day.

Pro-tip for anyone considering: go on foot. It's one of the hardest north american cities to find parking in.

Torontonian here.  Montreal is just cool.  Everytime I go I discover something new about this great city.

Everybody talks about La Banquise for their poutine, but just diagonally across from them is Ma Poule Mouillée. It’s a Portuguese restaurant that makes its own version of poutine. It’s super decadent and amazing.

I laughed when I realized you were driving through Montreal. Traffic is everywhere, using public transit or cycling is the best way to move around the city. No worry about parking, parking fees and being stuck in traffic. I remember going to see the Canada Day fireworks  at the old port one year, one of my friends decided to drive to the old port instead of taking the metro. I warned him that he would get stuck in traffic and he did. Calling me as the fireworks started telling me he was still in traffic.

Montreal is a gem of a city. So much so that i spend my entire summers there and i live in Central Florida.

The best poutine, I think is at Paulo & Susan

You shouldn't be affraid to try to pronounce french words cuz you nailed the Marché Jean-Talon, glad you enjoy ! You'll always be welcome <3

I've lived in Montreal my whole life, and started a family six years ago a short walk from the Botanical Gardens. It is with considerable sadness that we intend to move to a larger home in a suburb just off the island this summer. If you want an elevated urban aesthetic lifestyle, Montreal is a hard city to beat.

Cool video about Montreal, but you  went mostly in old Montreal and downtown. Thing is we are really proud of our "arrondissement" (Borough) and most of them have their own feel and life. Things are not the same in Mile-End or Plateau Mont-Royal, or Sud-Ouest or Hochelaga or Outremont or Griffintown or Montréal-Nord and all of the other ones. Some are more like generic suburbs (looking at you Anjou and Pointe-Claire) but truth is you have a lot more of Montreal to see. Last thing, the person who told you to go to this specific Belle Province, lied to you, the legendary place is just next door and is  called "Montreal pool room".

Last year my norwegian gaming buddy came to Montreal to visit us on whim, he liked it so much he came back for 2 months in the same year. Truly makes me feel blessed to see other people appreciate my city.

I watched a video about Montreal Chefs and the restaurants where they eat/hang out. They went to their "ultimate hangout" restaurant Greenspot for their poutine.
