If I was Eva I'd be so mad bc she literally carried all their asses during the riddle solving

I like how, Kyrie is the one who introduced chessboard thinking to Battler. It shows how she's constantly projecting and has no empathy. She thinks what SHE would do in that situation and not what THEY would do. That's pretty cool detail IMO

but jesus christ the reveal that kinzo instigated the massacre of both armies is diabolical. like i actually had a lot of sympathy for him during the part before about him meeting the original beatrice despite what he did after that but NOOOPE

The EP7 tea party scene with Shannon and George PAINS to read, it's such a masterpiece. There's just so much unspoken tension between the two of them it could literally shatter glass

Can't believe we made it here. I love how chill and fine everything is and doesn't induce utter crippling despair with every sentence.

“So is this like the best version of what could’ve happened on the island?” Oof oof oof

When I read the tea party for the first time, I was so devastated by everything that I yelled out in joy when Will came in for the save.
It really makes you understand why Beatrice was so desperate for Battler and the rest of the world to believe that a witch committed the murders: to avoid having this horrifying truth be revealed.

I really love how both Battler and Beatrice were trying to do the exact same thing, avoid having to make the culprit a family member, since the very beginning. It's just that Beatrice came up with her alternative first.

After that raging typhoon of that miserable fragment clears, in that chapel, we truly see Ange for who she is: A lonely six-year-old girl stuck in the purgatory of Rokkenjima.

"Listen Ange. This is what happened on Rokkenjima on that day.

This isn't sad or painful at all..."

Will this magic be a gentle lie? Or a fitting eulogy for her family?

As the gentle breeze blows over us on that day, the seagulls continued to cry on that catbox island.

The final scene with ange and battler in this episode is so warm and sad

People really don't appreciate how talented Ryukishi is as a writer. This tea party is a genuine masterpiece that recontextualizes the entire story and how the reader views these characters and events. From here on, whenever you re-read Umineko, you will see how carefully and meticulously this VN was written.

Shannon/Kanon calling themselves furniture who are unable to "love". Why Eva's and Ange's relationship was so terrible and why Eva never told her the truth. The family conference and how serious the "MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE" line was. Rudolf's mysterious "I'm probably going to die tonight" line. Kyrie being raised by a brutal yakuza family that's probably even worse than the Ushiromiya's. The clock that's always ticking during the "games". You might also now understand the deep hatred the "man from 19 years ago" had for Natsuhi in the fifth game.

Aside from all the story developments, the tension and atmosphere in this tea party are also superb. It's right up there together with some of the best and most fucked up moments in Higurashi. This tea party is 10/10 despair entertainment. Bernkastel gets it.
Oh, and Bern gutting Clair like that is extra twisted and ironic if you read Higurashi before Umineko...

4:14:05 Also, this... I would say it is the most heartbreaking Umineko scene... :(

"This is the final game, made just for Ange."

...is by far the most I've cried to any story. So much happened throughout chapter 7 and its tea party. Ending it with Bernkastel and Lambda proclaiming in red that there wouldn't be a happy ending is just so crushing. For Battler, the character we've been following for so long and come to love so much for his caring nature, to come up to Ange and reassuring her that everything will be alright... it reminds you just how lovely this entire story is. You just want to root for Ange. People like to say that Umineko's main plot ended in episode 6, and to that I'd say "Yeah, probably." but the fact that all throughout Battler and Beatrice's story, Ange has always been there, suffering, even after seemingly all of the plot threads have ended and most questions answered, it's just so well written in my opinion. Episode 8 is my favorite episode for that very reason. Closing out the book for real this time, and giving an ending that in my opinion, worthy and then some for a story as big as Umineko is.

There should be a redeem that forces Joe to answer one of his DMs while chat waits.

Considering it's been over a year since this stream, not sure if many will actually read this, but another take on Kyrie I've thought of is that I wonder if everything she says after Rudolf dies is her way of coping. She definitely seemed to genuinely love him, so I wonder if shutting out that love both for him and for everything to do with him (Ange) is her way of coping with the loss. She convinces herself she's completely heartless and that nothing she had with him was real, so she no longer has to experience the pain of that loss. It's similar to the way many of the "witches" in this story cope with trauma by spinning new fantastical realities for themselves, so they don't have to acknowledge the cold reality of what they are now faced with.

The "red flashback" is still one of my absolute favorite moments of Umineko.

Guys I'm like 5 vods behind but the thumbnail genuinely got me so excited how am I supposed to stay calm knowing Joe got to the episode 7 tea party

kyrie is about as close as you can get to a realistic psycopath writing, she doesnt quite feel drawn back by killing people, is cunning in thinking and since she has a hard time understanding empathy and guilt, it makes sense that she doesnt really see ange as anything but a strategically placed pawn
it also gives depth regarding the whole chessboard thinking, its main drawback is noise in form of emotions, so she essentially has to emulate those if she wants it to be effective at all

Best episode, best characters, best ost. Man, I love EP7

Chatter: “Wait I’m confused when do they start drinking tea?” LOL
