Cam: it's so awful her private toilet problems are revealed so publicly here.

Also Cam: yeah, put "I sh*t on the floor" in the thumbnail, that'll do.

😂😂😂 the King of the Donuts

Her disregard to real issues is similar to my nan’s at the start of her dementia, she stopped cleaning and acknowledging that it wasn’t clean at home, she laughed and smiled about things that was serious, literally unable to see any importance or urgency to anything. I hope she’s okay

i've always felt that Karen might be in the beginning stages of developing dementia. for example: the partial logic on things, like keeping the fridges outside (she probably assumes as long as things are cold, that's all that you need--and the fridges are working fine, so, therefore there's no problem) or that Gordon renting the room gives him access to the room but not the wardrobe she locked off, along with wearing the same outfit every day. i think that's also a big part of why it doesn't seem like she's registering what Gordon is saying to her. she also seems to be a newer hoarder, which is also why i feel there is cognitive decline going on. i think if she'd been a hoarder for 5+ years, the inn would be inoperable.

Asking why a hoarder doesn't just sell their hoard, is a lot like asking why someone with anxiety doesn't just feel better; like, yeah they have a mental disorder, obviously they can't just wilfully behave the way a mentally well person would.

Moral of story keep an eye on your mum when she gets older

This honestly seems like the middle stages of Alzheimer's (just from personal experience with my poor grandmother) truly cruel and horrible disease

My sanitation professor in college said he stopped eating out because of what he saw when working as a sanitation inspector.

If you weren’t raised by a hoarder, you might not understand the son’s emotional disconnect from his mother. This may be his last resort attempt to give her some kind of life and pull her out of the mental illness he was forced to endure and care for as a child. I think we should give him some grace, as he may have grown up in some awful neglect and this gift to her was the very best he thought he could do. There comes a time when a child of neglect has given everything and finally realizes he can’t love, or buy her out of the illness.

Not gonna lie, until the son showed up I thought the plot twist was going to be that he actually died 20 years ago and Karen bought the hotel herself and is just so nuts that she doesnt remember.

56:37 You’re telling me he could’ve just gotten his mom a spa day, instead of a whole damn hotel????

What gets me is the son getting mad that his mom who clearly is beginning to develop dementia if not fully experiencing it already, is not doing a good job at the hotel he bought for her. She needs to be cared for, not to be put to work! eugh

This woman has mental health problems including hoarding disorder. Her son isn’t helping because, as a child of a similar individual, help doesn’t help. It’s an expensive emotional roller coaster which never ends. He knows that as soon as they leave the stuff and filth with creep back in.

Boiling a burger should be a warcrime

"communal hat" LICE!!!!!!

Just a note: hoarding can be a mental illness. I don’t know if it applies in this case, but telling a hoarder to sell their stuff is basically like telling a person with depression to just get up and do more sports, or telling a person with social anxiety to just go outside and talk to people, like it’s not that hard.

This is so sad. Karen is clearly unwell, seems to be heading towards dementia. The son, Jason, who bought her the hotel, is nowhere to be seen.
And Sarah is taking FULL advantage of Karen. It’s a very common dynamic at their ages. One person starts to lose their edge and the other person, claiming to care for them, bleeds them dry.
I bet whatever money Karen has made, Sarah has swindled out of her.
Brutal.

When I first watched this episode I saw someone who works in elderly care say that she shows a lot of signs of early memory loss and that made me look at everything so much more differently and honestly hate the son and sarah even more

Just at the kitchen part, the Chinese takeaway nearest to me is shut every Monday and the reason is a kitchen clean , yes you can see them do this every Monday through the window, it's one of the only places I will have take out food from❤

A blood drive is something the American Red Cross does where they have volunteers donate blood
