Here are additional tips sent to us by David Jarnagin with C&D Jarnagin Company:
"A flat head screwdriver makes the best holes. Pick one just a little larger than the loops and hit with a hammer and you have a neat cut slot. I find about 1/2 " up from the tab stitch to the bottom of the plate put it about where the originals were located. It is not unusual to see several plate hole in the shoulder belts. This may be due to the fact they were issued back out to a new person if someone went the the hospital, weight loss or other reasons." He also shared that some "wire loops that are coming in with the plates now have the loops too long when filled and even with a leather thong you still need to bend the loops over to make them hold."
