8:30 100% agreed! Never buy an RV, new or used, without having a certified RV technician do a rigorous inspection of the RV.

On our first camping trip in ours, we set up next to a retired couple, and we were talking about RV's and our GEN-Y hitch. He was telling me that when he bought his Brinkley, he had a Ford 150, and the dealer told him he would be fine, and they actually installed the 5th wheel hitch in the back of his truck. He said when they first hooked up to it was sitting high in the front, and the dealer still told him he was good to go. He said he got 2 hours, headed from Indiana to Florida, after white-knuckling the steering wheel down the interstate, stopped at the closest dealership, which happened to be a GMC dealership, and immediately upgraded his truck that same day. He chuckled and said I got a new RV and Truck on the same day. The dealers don't care as long as you drive it off the lot.

I'm an RV tech and inspector, and we did almost a year of research before we upgraded from our little travel trailer to a fifth wheel so we could be (almost) fulltime on the road. We specifically chose a pre-owned 40-foot Arctic Fox fifth wheel because of what you said (NEW ones are way more money) but also because the reputation of Arctic Fox as a quality builder gave us some comfort. We love it! And YESSSS...

No matter what the dealer says, PLEASE HIRE AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTOR when buying new or pre-owned. Yes it's an expense but $1000 or so up front can save you MANY thousands of dollars in repairs, heartache and loss of use of your RV as it sits untouched at the dealer for months, (while you still get to make that monthly payment, by the way).

20:33 Water intrusion is the most damaging issue most RVers experience. Great advice to be inspecting your roof and other seals on the regular!

We bought our new RV 2 years ago. We got it home and the hot water side of the faucet did not supply any water. I imediatetly called the dealer, the dealer sent the service manage right out. he inspected things and discovered a bad valve and he would order a new one. I asked how this could happen, it's brand new. He replied "because you bought a piece of garbage". We never went back to the daler and instead found a great mobile guy. That was the only issue with our new RV. The service manager did return the next day and replaced the valve but we will never go back to the dealer

After 15 months full time, no major regrets. I got lucky but I also researched for years to find the right layout, was able to pay cash, got my used RV inspected and got certified as an RV tech so I do my own maintenance and can fix a lot of issues myself. Been to 12 states and Canada and move every 2-3 weeks as I like a slower travel. I absolutely love this lifestyle and glad I took this leap of faith. My only regret is I don’t have a tow vehicle. I refuse to tow so I have an e-bike and it’s not enough, I’m planning on taking the motorcycle safety course and getting a Honda trail 125 so I can take the backroads to go hiking and to go to town. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart but it’s peaceful.

DEFINITELY recommend the extended warranty. I bought a 2018 Keystone Fuzion last year from RCD and opted for their extended warranty that they offered. Had to replace one of the roof top A/C's last year. And the Norcold refrigerator this year. Both were taken care of no questions asked and only cost me their $99 diagnostic fee. Can't beat that. Probably not as fast as I would have liked. But they couldn't get the replacement parts any faster. So no blame on RCD at all. Kudos for the videos. You two are great. Keep up the good work. Great video and very relevant information. We can definitely relate. Not necessarily regrets on our end buying our TT, but most definitely lessons learned for the next experience. Never even knew an RV inspector was a thing until months after we purchased ours. Having someone check over your rig to identify current and future problem areas would have saved us a few trips to the dealer. Luckily, they were all very minor, but an pre inspection would have been very useful!

We bought used, BUT, that was after having one inspected and it failed miserably. It was only a year old and rode hard. We bought one on consignment in Tampa after attending the show this past January...that one inspected as well. And speaking of KYD (you mentioned them) we "thought " we loved the Globetrotter with the "party couch". Our regret is not getting the Classic with the traditional dinette and a comfy couch. Maybe one day....😂

We are not full time in our 5th wheel. We have had several over the years and bought our first brand new 5th in 2016, no regrets from day one. I did do my own full inspection of the 5th wheel top to bottom inside and out. I wrote down 3 pages of issues that needed addressed. They fixed everything before we picked it up. Because of this, we have only had 1 issue in the first year and it was covered under warranty.

I only buy used cars.
I bought my RV 2 years used, and got a full warranty on it. It’s been great (for almost 5 years now) with only the water pump going out. Which I replaced for $35.
