N55 gang💪🏻 love the maintenance videos

I always enjoy videos like this can see how different people tackle the same issues. I wish this had existed about 3 years ago. I had to do all of these to my son's car. Had to do all this including motor mounts as well. I also changed FMS but added a guard to the front as additional protection. Changing the charge pipe to aluminum is great but can also leak. I bought a decent aluminum charge pipe from FTP but I had to put two clamps on it because of a leak from the silicone coupler, just would not seal properly for some reason. I didn't think about it at the time, but I should have done the oil pump and plastic shroud around it while I had the oil pan out and might as well have done the rod bearings as well while I was in there

i did a transmission service on my n51 with 150k miles, shifts way better.

You should've done an oil prime before starting the engine like that.
FCP Euro has a good video on doing this on a n55 after doing an OFHG or oil pan gasket.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. My N55, with 33,000 miles on it, is currently in the workshop because something is wrong with the Valvetronic.

It makes a clicking/rattling noise when the electronics wake up after opening the door or the trunk. It's very annoying. I fear i have to replace not only the Valvetronic motor but also the Eccentricshaft ;/

I have a 2011 335 Xdrive Msport. I love the car. Just hit 115K miles, owned it for 11 years, got it with 9K miles. Some big ticket items coming up. I have leaking oil pan gasket, will be  $2500, the rod bearings should be done, that $1300 if I do it with the oil pan gasket.  I did all the other leaks (valve cover, OFG, coolant hoses, Radiator, Alternator, Water pump).  Now the ftont differential is whining too. So whoever buys my car as is for $8000 would need to put about $5000 more to get it top shape. Scary part is- I maintained my car- imagine buying one that has all these issues not addressed. Wow. My next car was going to be 2024/2025 X540i or a 2025 M340xdrive, but I think im going to go with a 2026 Tesla Model Y performance. I loved my BMW, but too much maintenance kinda left a bad tste in my mouth.

Before I drop the subframe I would just keep adding oil.

My charge pipe is leaking from exactly that point. Is there an o-ring or something inside?Or should I change whole chage-pipe?

Uh, no priming of the oil system? Hope you don't screw up the rod bearing...

I have an x3 n55. Got a leak on the back of the engine that is going on the hot catalytic converter and smoking white, anyone know what that is?

Omg this is an absolutely chaotic engine and job. Def not for the do-it-yourself-er at home. I mean this is a top mechanic with high-end tools and a shop lift with pro lighting.....and this job STILL looks insanely major. This engine is crap sorry.
