It is great to see this film from the Remington Film Library preserved and readily available. Dick Baldwin was my boss and I learned a great deal from him -- enabling me to break 100-straight the day I joined the ATA! We were both left-handed shooters and often attracted an audience when shooting trap doubles. I hunted ducks in flooded timber in Arkansas with Bob Andrews, but never got to meet D. Lee Braun in person. Those were the good old days!

The techniques and lessons being taught here are excellent.  This video isn't "outdated" at all BUT at 11:57 he tells us that the gun camera weighs about 30lbs.  WHAT ??   I'm sure modern shooters are glad that the 30lb. gun cameras are "outdated", lol.

BEST trap film EVER!  We've been watching it for YEARS!

New trap shooter here in 2025.
This is a very helpful resource. 👍

Sometimes with all the technology(i.e., shot cams), plus jargon today, it takes a 39 year old reel to reel film and professional teacher, clearly and concisely show you how it is done. Oh... and for free too. I have studied the “gun camera” shots, about 100 of them in this timeless classic, thus programming my brain to see and do! Thank you so much for posting! “Old School is New School!”

The gun camera sure gives me a better way to point and follow through. can't find a video this good with the technology of today.

One of my original teachers. Proud to have been "a Remington Man" like D Lee.

Blimey, I've been shooting for ten years and watching this film today has explained some elements of the art that I simply didn't know. For example aiming higher above the trap on the right hand positions. An excellent tutorial and one I'll be using this weekend.

this video shows how cameras have greatly improved since 2014.

I haven't watched every trap video out there by a long shot but I've seen a lot of them. This is hands down my favorite - should say that I'm a beginner. It shows the fundamentals and the camera work is excellent - even measured against vids that use modern technology, I haven't found something that gives a better perspective of your sight picture. I went out and shot my first 20+ round after watching.

Crazy how something this old still works and helps.  Been a consistent 19-22 out of 25 shooter for a few years.  I watched this and the same day shot my first 25 and then a 24.  Excellent video!!!

I'm new to this sport... this document is immensely valuable and the fact that it's from '69... (I was 4)... I will re-watch it often.

Still the best trap shooting instruction video available. I have it one VHS. Back in the day, the tournaments all had industry reps shooting in their catagory. The 60' and 80's were my favorite years as one could buy a new trap gun at a shoot for a sweet deal and test shoot it before purchasing. I bought a brand new Perazzi Mirage at the California State Shoot in 1973 and paid $700. Today it's worth $6,000.+. Bought a new in box Gamba Daytona 34" single for $2,000. in 2004 there too and love it.

This is great. I was particularly impressed at their ability to shoot with the 30 pound camera strapped to it! It's like taking a 1-year-old baby and having him or her hang onto the end of your barrel while you shoot.

This has to be the best lessons I’ve watched.

I’m shooting my first Grand American in a few days. To say I’ve been in a slump is putting it mildly.

I’m definitely not going for a championship. I’m trying this. At this point I’m not going to lose anything.

Vic Reinders Introduced me to Mr. Braun years ago at the Grand American in Ohio. Both of these men were two of the best at one time.

These oldies are the best. This and frank hoppe have improved my scores the most. All the newer guys try to add to this when nothing really needs to be added

Don't let the age of this video/film fool you. The tips and techniques covered haven't changed a bit over the years. Rock solid fundamentals. Watch it a few times to grasp the basics and apply them next time you head out for a round or two. Unless you are a seasoned pro, these tips and techniques will greatly help improve your score and make the sport a lot more fun. Enjoy!

Great video from 1969… very valid in 2023.
Very truly the Grand-Daddy of ShotKam!

For some reason this video really clicked with me (have watched plenty of others)...shot a 25 and 24 today after focusing on the straight forward tips this morning...amazing...well worth the watch...Thanks for sharing!
