Wow, this race (Fuji circuit) really highlights how much slipstreaming can make a difference...
Also I really like the long battles (5 laps of Fuji is like 10 laps of tsubuka) cause it adds more variables to the race e.g awd are very hard on front tyres, especially the heavy GTR, thats where I think the honda gained time back (strong braking and turn in cause looks after front rubber being MR and much lighter). It's good to see pros/cons of each that way.
Although it'll never happen, I wish touring car racing could go back good ol Group A days where they raced production based cars like this rather instead of the heavily standardised cars they use today.
Has it really been 20 or 30 years already? Back when I was a student, I used to save up the money I earned from my part-time job and couldn't wait for the new issue of Best Motoring to come out every month. Back then, it was on old VHS tapes with grainy video quality, but watching those affordable, cars pushing their absolute limits in real battles was so much fun. I guess they probably don't do that kind of thing anymore because the automakers would complain.
Great race. I was surprised to see the F355 clocked the best lap time. Also, it's nice to see the EVOs and Imprezas play with the big boys and hold their own.
