In January 2026, CD Projekt RED filed a DMCA takedown against a modder who was paywalling a Cyberpunk mod on Patreon. He was charging $10/month for access to the mod, and he was forced to remove it because it infringed upon CDPR’s intellectual property.

Historically, CD Projekt RED has been very supportive of free mods for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk & they even encourage voluntary donations as a way to support modders/cc creators, but they do not allow user-generated content to be paywalled.

I hope Paralives will adopt a similar policy 😊

I am against paywalling Paralives mods. I got out of the Sims community because of the greed, don’t bring ut to Paralives. 🛑

And here's the thing, there are modders who never paywall their shit, but have patreons and still get members on it cause people WANT to support them. Brain blown.

Remember when CC stood for Custom Content and not Credit Card

It is GENUINELY wild that The Sims community used to HATE it when people paywalled stuff, like TS2 days, even TS1. But it feels like ever since TS4 people have been fine with it.

I loved how the entire paralives community immediately clowned on TX for trying to monetize off paralives lmao

The sims community is lowkey insane with their monetization.
they wouldn't last 5 minutes in the modding scene for minecraft.

mods that contain new dimension, whole other PLANETS, crafting and building mechanics, and all of it on curseforge or modrinth for FREE.
there really is no helping the Sims Community anymore

EA raised their children well.

Considering how the Sims community said that Paralives should make their content paid, it's no surprise that the Sims players have conditioned themselves into being okay with paying exorbitant amounts of money for very little content. It's really miserable to see people be that passive about it.

I think it's worth mentioning that it's always been possible to make modding a full time career. It's called game development.

Also, I'm pretty sure The Sims is a cult.

TwistedMexi also accused a Tumblr creator, arro-now, of cloning his work after arro-now released a free Sims 3-style camera mod for Paralives. TwistedMexi behaved as though he held exclusive rights to the in-game code and acted as if he had the sole authority to release such modifications. But as we know, all Sims modders utilize the same codebase, and such overlap is standard practice within the community. Fortunately, arro-now was able to substantiate his efforts with his public GitHub repository, proving he had been developing the project for weeks. Faced with intense backlash and this evidence, TwistedMexi ultimately retracted his allegations and deleted his post. Simply mind-blowing how far some creators go to protect their "precious" paywall content.🤯

dude fallout modders will make mods with HOURS of ENTIRE quests, storylines, maps, animations, etc. with IMPECCABLE VOICE ACTING for FREE. it’s basically free dlc and so high quality that it looks and feels like official content made by bethesda. only funded through OPTIONAL donations & passion

as a marketing graduate, i NEED to study a sims 4 fan's brain, they are the exact opposite of everything we've learned. Kinda fascinating

The screenshot of ''If you're not already a patreon of xx, what are you doing'' idk... buying groceries to live 😂

$10 a month to pretend to be your bestie is crazy

Grifters are always going to grift, but the irritating part for me is how much they want to make Paralives exactly like The Sims. You have The Sims, just play that game and pay for the CC over there!

TwistedMexi got mad at the community when the community was upset because they didn't update their mods quickly enough after an update. I thought the community was overreacting. Knowing how much they make from the community... Treat it like a job bro. Just like you want us to.

There are people who actually make ground breaking mods and they don’t charge you 😂

Sims CC should not be monetized, the creators barely do anything, yet modders like fallout london did it for free

0:18 heyyy that’s me!!! 😮
