I’ve been tryna decide if I should shave or keep it going for now lmao. I lowkey started kinda liking it but also wanted to know what y’all thought haha 💙

Definitely don't watch samalamadingdong yet. Its the culmination of many different episodes, with many many callbacks

As much as I love Samalamadingdong, I would actually STRONGLY advise waiting to watch it until you see more episodes because it is very reference heavy. I would recommend all 3 Sam Says Episodes, Beat the Buzzer, A Sponsored Episode, Escape the Greenroom, Race to the Bottom, Karaoke Night, Second Place, and One Year Later (As well as just any other episodes that catch your interest)

Who tf is suggesting Samalamadingdong?? It's a phenomenal episode but it's also  an homage to every single previous episode and the series as a whole! You need to watch way more of it before you check that one out

Zach and Jess have a podcast where they do improvised musicals together. it’s called Off-Book, and one of their musicals about a mock trial is available on youtube

Ticket to Nowhere is unironically maybe my favorite song from a musical ever and they IMPROVISED IT!!!!!

I simply must recommend the Sam Says episodes. Also drinking game, one year later, count the rice and escape the greenroom

improvising is hard. Singing is hard. Rhyming is hard. Doing it all on the spot without warning what you are expected to do is insanity and so impressive

Zach and Jess have had an incredible improvised musical podcast called Off Book for like almost a decade, and Zeke has been a guest a number of times. That’s why their chemistry is so great. Oh and Scott is their regular keyboardist too.

They also did a Dropout show with this same concept called “Play It By Ear” if you’re so inclined.

One thing I find super impressive that I haven't heard mentioned much, is how they took the idea of a town that's both a mountain and seaside town and turned that (possibly unintentionally, but if not, really impressively) into a cohesive thematic through line of not forcing yourself into one box and exploring multiple parts of yourself, shown by Alexa wanting to be both a batter and a pitcher, the busker both sticking to his role and going to business school etc. The fact that this improvised musical had a clearly communicated theme is pretty good.

There are broadly 3 types of game changer episodes. There's
1. Classic game show format with a dropout spin on it
2. Fuck with people
3. Invite people who are very good at a specific thing and have them do the thing (also with a spin on it usually)

Sometimes they overlap.

So the answer to "how are they so good at this" and "how are they so in sync" are the same: they've being doing this specific thing together for a while

I'd definitely recommend "A Game Most Changed", it's an improv shakespearian play kind of thing, if you liked this it'll probably be up your alley.

Got to love Jess Mckenna. She's super talented musically and is in every single episode of Dropouts Musical improv show, Play it by Ear. I feel you should also check out Make some Noise Season 3 Episode 8 "A Horny Chain Text Message For Arbor Day"

I'm so glad your continuing to do Game Changer. I would say to probably hold off on Samalamadingdong until you watch a bit more since its more of a finale style. But as far as I remember, it doesn't outright spoil any of the previous episodes (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!), just makes some callbacks.

As other people have mentioned, I think you would really enjoy Shoot From The Hip! They are an improv group and are right up your alley!! There are even out of context videos for them which I know is how you like to introduce yourself to new media.

🎵HOW CAN THAT BEEEEEE🎵

Just a thing with Samalamadingdong, you need context for it, as there are many callbacks to previous episodes, so I'm kinda glad you chose the improvised musical... Also it's kind of a reason why people keep recommending Brennan episodes because it's kind of a multi-season arc for Brennan...

For certain episodes you need before Samalamadingdong, whilst Yes or No is the most needed, and Second Place, You-Lympics, the Escape Room and Bingo are definitely needed before watching it, and here are a list of other episodes that are referenced in it:

Om Nom Nom, The Grantchelor, Name a Number, Survivor, A Sponsored Episode, Sam Says. There may be more I'm forgetting, but there are still a lot to watch before Samalamadingdong fully makes sense...

Some of these, you can watch not as a video, though (I won't name them because I don'y want to single out Om Nom Nom or the COVID season Sponsored Episode...)

4:19 I think the point is that the town is somehow both on top of the mountain and still at water level with a coast. xD

- Sam Says trilogy (3eps across several seasons) + One Year Later which kind of acts as a finale for those three.
- Escape The Green Room is also one I’d recommend.
- and A Game Most Changed. That one is so much fun if you liked the one you watched in this video.

Do Not watch Samalamadingdong yet. That one is the culmination of so many different episodes that it’ll be much much better if you wait until you’ve seen more of everything else.

This one and the Shakespeare episode are easily my 2 most favorite Game Changer episodes. Really happy to see you react to this one

In all honesty, I love Samalamadingdong, but it is kind of a culmination of the show, so I don't know if it's a good one to begin with.

I do love Escape the Green Room, the three Sam Says episodes, and a more recent episode Count the Rice for further introductions to game changer!
