📢 Compared to Russia or the United States, Greece is small. It occupies a small sliver of land on the edge of Europe. From there, the Greeks settled on the islands of the Aegean Sea, along the eastern coast of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), and also founded numerous colonies in the Black Sea, Cyprus, Italy, Africa, and even in the south of modern-day France and Spain. Each region where the Greeks lived developed its own art, both similar and distinct from that of other Greeks. We will explore the geography of the places where the ancient Greeks lived, learn the names of their main cities and regions, islands, and famous sanctuaries, and examine their unique features. Many of these cities still exist and preserve the memory of ancient civilization.
