Fun fact: The mountain is named after the diwata (deity or "enchanting goddess") which is the pre-Spanish native faith based on the Indianized concept of devata in Hinduism in Indosphere. Its local nickname "diwalwal" is derived from the native idiom "diwalwal ang dila" ("one's tongue hanging out"). Proud taga Diwalwal here. And it was good to see my friend Sir Daniel Ramos.

Congrats, Sef. You really deserve a recognition or award for this kind of feature blogs of some important parts of the country. You have done ever better coverage than the mainstream media. Your editing skills are really good. Your research and interview skills are also very good. One thing I want to really recognize is your ability to stay away from politics. You just do plain coverage and feature reporting. Diwalwal was at its height in the 80"s people from other provinces went to that place to mine gold. A lot of lives were also lost to environmental disaster, especially landslide. A lot of people have been trapped and buried dead in those tunnels. Thank you for featuring this place. I lost my mom on this place 37 years ago October 20, 1985. She was buried alive and we never recovered her body. Until this day, i long for my mom and hoping someday we can provide proper burial for her. This place changed our lives forever and hopefully I have the heart to revisit this place.

Thanks for featuring Mount Diwalwal ang laki ng pinagbago dahil noong araw dyan ako nagmamine ang tawag pa sa amin noon at Small Skill Miners way back 1983-1987 talagang malaki ang kitaan noon at and I personally watched the first biggest landslide diko makalimutan yon August 26, 1986 that lost more than 4,000 lives personal po natin nasaksihan at tumulong din kami noon sa pagrecover ng mga bangkay at may tatlong friend din ako na namatay doon sa landslide na yon sa may lugar ng "Buenas" grabe ang karanasan ko noon at the young age parang 17 years old yata ako noon. Dyan din ako nakahawak ng 110k cash sa hatian namin 7 kami sa grupo equal yong hatian napakalaking pera yon nong panahon na yon. Nakaranas din kami ng ambush between Philippine Constabulary (PC) and Lose Command (LC) grabe ang experience na naranasan ko sa lugan na yan pero masaya padin dahil malaki naman ang kinitang pera at buhay pa nman ako til now.
