Could the Malvern Hills, Wye Valley and Forest of Dean combine to make one of Britain’s most underrated campervan road trips?

In this video, I take my VW campervan on a fast-paced scouting trip through all three areas to find out. I’m checking out the scenery, roads, parking, viewpoints and standout stops to see whether this corner of England and Wales genuinely works as one road trip.
We start in the Malvern Hills, before heading south into the Wye Valley and finishing amongst the ancient woodland of the Forest of Dean.

I’m covering far more ground in one day than I’d ever recommend on a normal trip, but the aim is simple: work out whether I’d come back and spend a long weekend, several days or even a full week exploring this route properly.

Expect huge views, historic castles, winding country roads, autumn woodland, campervan parking tips and plenty of honest thoughts along the way.

The view point you were at for Symmonds Yat, the Wye arcs round to the left. So if you walk in the opposite direction from where you parked you drop down to a riverside pub. From there you can follow the river all the way to Ross-on-Wye. A nice dog walk. Oh, and sticker shout for the back of the van 😊😊

Stickers would go on in the cab next to passenger seat as we have an A class with no passenger door. That’s the compartment where we keep some of your guide books!
