The Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a national warning system in the United States for broadcasting urgent information about emergencies like weather alerts or AMBER alerts via television, radio, and other communication channels. While some alerts are commonly activated, others are rarely activated or have never yet been activated. This video will cover 10 of these rarer and more disturbing EAS alerts.

The most American thing about this video is learning that a convict in transit escaped because the cops wanted McDonald's 💀

Every time I hear the EAS, my brain goes "oh fuck, its happening"

i'd rather have an emergency alert accidentally trigger than have it accidentally NOT trigger

I literally got woken up at 3AM about a criminal on the loose a whole county over. I could not go back to sleep, my tired mind was telling me that a man was gonna break into my house and kill me to stay hidden. I’m still haunted by it to this day.

Whoever came up with these sounds knew how to tap into a deep fear within the human psyche

i was in Hawaii during the CDW incident in 2018. those 38 minutes spent in the stairwell were some of the most terrifying of my life.

12:55 "If you are hearing this message, you are in a life threatening situation."

That is easily the most terrifying thing to hear on an EAS.

19:31 so even the employee who triggered the alert went to find shelter. At least the guy who issued the alert was freaking out as much as everyone else lol

Of all the places to stop and get food with a prisoner in transport, he chose Gary, Indiana. 😂😂😂

The Hawaii ballistic missile situation was insane. I have a close friend who lives in Hawaii and they were, understandably, an absolute wreck for that half hour. Insane screw up.

EAS alerts always give this feeling of dread. Honestly terrifying. Sometimes, I listen to EAS scenarios just to get a little feel of that dread, with the comfort of knowing that it isn't real.

For me, the sound is more jarring than the actual message. When it’s 1am & I’m alone, watching TV in the dark & that sound comes on, I can’t explain the feeling I get inside…
