He didn't lose to schizophrenia, he continued to publish and give talks while on furlough from psych care.  This is when he was lecturing on Nash Equilibrium, the work that earned him the Nobel prize in Economics.  He actually recovered from schizophrenia.

When we were both in the Princeton math department. I remember him as wickedly funny.  He and his wife died in car crash because they didn't have their seatbelts on.

A great real story of tragedy, recovery and then a terrible tragedy.

Truly remarkable Legacy glad his illness stabilized so he got his final work done. A Blessing for Game Theory 66 years old. This illness is devastating . But glad to see his life’s work was finished. That treatment he received with insulin made his illness worse not better.

To say he "came back" mostly alone, is a little strange. Without his ex and a university allowing him to be, he might not have come back at all.

Sad that he got a mental illness, but the Great thing was that He got to Graduate from College and made His major contributions to Mathematics that still left their imprint today…

What an incredible man and work

Such determination to finish his lives work regardless of his mental illness.. ❤❤❤

The depiction of his relationship with Eleanor is not completely accurate. She was his nurse during one of his hospital stays, and it was during this time that she became pregnant. In fact, Dr. Nash abandoned her. Eleanor raised their son on her own, without any financial support or involvement from him. Ironically, this child, who was abandoned, turned out to be the only one of his children who did not have schizophrenia.

Thank you....

I m impressed people at Princeton allowed him to be in the building- that really shows they cared about him.. so cool💜✌🏾2026

I watched one of your recent videos and like the way you put it. while watching, one thing came to my mind that could keep your audience watching until the end. let me know if i could share more details

It's a very interesting story competing with commercial enterprise. I will come back to it and try to get past halfway once the relentless interruptions have moved on to pastures new.

34:50.  Seat belts save lives.  It's better to be strapped to the car when it comes to a sudden stop rather than thrown from it at 55 mph.   It's simple mechanics.  Momentum is conserved.

Mental health has become biggest ailment but in this if Its not on violent socio psychopaths levels rest all should be helped with proper care that fragmented mind is not that human beings fault and all of them are treated with cruelty

Too many ads that you can't skip!!

what a story tyvm

I was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 58. It's not the typical experience. I can only say that, from my perspective, it's one more thing. Sure, it's shitty.  It may be ruinous for a while. But that will pass, and it's one more shitty thing. It's difficult, for sure. But it's... yeah, like some people are bipolar. Some people are jerks. Some people are blond. One more thing. I'm a schizophrenic. It doesn't take up my whole day or much of my day. It's mainly a factor of night and sleep. If my kids got it, and they decided their lives were ruined, I would resist that with a lot of fervor. No, it's one more thing. There are plenty of other things that you are.  Am I better off for having been diagnosed late in life? Yes, definitely. Am I better off for not believing in a lifestyle of medicines and indolence? For sure. Can you trust the doctors? Obviously not. That's as big a mistake as anything. The medicine is only somewhat better than in Nash's time.

An amazing story and life to a great mathematician.

This is so beautifully told. I hope you receive a million views. Prebirth, their souls planned an awesome journey  - one taking on very challenging earth lessons, the other helping him do so. I bet they planned that exit - to go out with a bang at the monumental end point of their journey which ended on a great high!!!!

"Game Theory" was an analysis of crowd control.
Does that take the edge off?  Little bit?
