Today's visit to Dawlish turned into something a little different as βͺ@andybyrne50β¬ was joined by our good friend Steve for a wander around Upper Dawlish, exploring parts of the town we don't often feature on the channel. Instead of heading for the seawall and the Brook, we made our way up to St Gregory's Church, where we compared a couple of fascinating old photographs and reminisced about a previous video filmed there. We also looked at the history of the old Railwaymen's Convalescent Home, where Andy's mum and dad first met many years ago. Sadly we couldn't get inside to see the piano his mother once played, but it was still wonderful to revisit such a special place. Before heading home, we also passed the house in Golden Terrace where Andy was born, adding another personal chapter to the day's stories. A relaxed wander with good friends, plenty of local history and a side of Dawlish that's often overlooked.
