I have had over a dozen members of my family who were fishermen , I worked with seven of them myself, even skippered the boat with two uncles & an older cousin as part of my crew. There's only three of us left, me & my two younger brothers. The youngest has all three medals. He went from working as a fishsalesman, to working as one of my crew to becoming a fishery officer. He now sells AC in florida where he lives with his 21yr old twins & his trans husband Jakob. I was never happier than when I realised in late 94 that my MS meant I had to go ashore. I hated every day I spent at sea, but I would relive every one again except 23rd November 1990, at 08am that morning I was just hauling our first tow at the north end of the Holy island just south of Brodick on Arran, I was hailed on the VHF by Carradale skipper John Galbraith, asking me if I had heard from the Antares & I told him I had heard Jamie on the VHF around 10pm the previous evening as we had been at a mooring in Lamlash loch, I had even suggested to my crew that we stick on our big net & fish through the night in the deep water because Jamie was obviously catching something, he was a very trusted skipper who my father thought highly of, my dad having died earlier that year in February. It was just then that we heard the Antares was missing, we quickly ran the net onto the net drum & began steaming the mile north to the search area. That's when my engine blew up, we ended up having to be towed back to Campbeltown by another Carradale boat which was skippered by my father's older brother. By the time we got back out with a new engine I had been diagnosed with MS. Forced me ashore four years later. I'd live every day again except that one 22nd November 1990.

A very good fishing video true fishermen I am a rod and line fishermen these fishermen I have massive respect for these fishermen because they try there heart out for fishing. I do not look at these fishermen as bad guys because retuning the cod is simply a waste of food for people to eat I blame the EU rules they are to blame why I and other rod anglers can not catch big cod because these fishermen are told to through all the cod and other species of sea fish back in the sea dead and as for the ยฃ400.000 fine the legal fishery people have given the skipper absolutely disgusting the skipper did what he thought was write . I don't like wasting fish true of the fishermen's fight with the authorities this needs to be sorted out I hate the fishing law and rules deeply ๐ข๐ข
