◼︎ On October 7, 1979, Kim Hyong-uk, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, was assassinated.

Kim Hyong-uk, a key power broker of the Park Chung-hee regime, disappeared under mysterious circumstances in Paris in 1979 after exposing regime corruption following his exile to the United States. Subsequently, the Chun Doo-hwan regime applied the Special Measures Act on Anti-State Activities through a trial in absentia in 1982, confiscating his entire domestic assets of approximately 30 billion won. However, in 1996, the Constitutional Court declared the aforementioned Special Measures Act unconstitutional, initiating large-scale lawsuits by his bereaved family to recover the assets. This program focuses on the historical contradiction between suspicions of massive illicit enrichment amassed at the pinnacle of power and the state's unconstitutional confiscation of property.
