Barnabas Piper serves as one of the pastors at Immanuel Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He is the author of several books including, The Pastor’s Kid: What it’s Like and How to Help and Belong: Loving Your Church by Reflecting Christ to One Another. He is married to Lauren and has three children.

Great interview. You've encouraged me as a Grandparent to rethink and reprocess some of my own "regrets" in parenting remembering God's sovereignty is bigger than my failures.

Barnabas - excellent expression of parsing your childhood experiences in a super healthy way. I find myself shouting, 'YES!' to many of your insightful comments. Glad you're doing pastoral work - we need your gifts and learnings, dear brother! (I was just with your dad this month at CrossCon'26)

i really enjoyed this interview. i am your dad's age and was just recently widowed. my husband was a pastor. he was a dear man. not perfect, but genuine. i was his caregiver for a few years.

I appreciate this interview and Barnabas' candor about growing up with a well known pastor as his father. I disagree with his take on family worship, though. His complaint about there being too much scripture reading in his childhood home, is his problem and not his parents. Reading God's Word and worshipping Him twice a day as a family is a huge blessing for any child.

One thing I've heard Piper, say on your comment of somebody commenting on your video.
He said when watching television on on a computer they need prayer.

Great word on God taking something that should not have happened, turning it into something that we would not trade for anything, and therefore causing us to no longer live in regret. Way to go, Pipe!

Wow ... he is so spot on.
Im a young African (little or no divorce expirience) leading a Baptist Church in Lower Bavaria Germany ( high divorce rates). This man put my observations into so perfect words that i couldnt do myself. The church should learn accomodation with wisdom towards people with a divorce history.

Great interview! Agree that God redeems apparently awful situations, AND we can regret sin that (at times) lead to the situation AND be grateful for how God has woven the broken parts of our lives into something beautiful that brings him glory. That’s full acknowledgment and full acceptance.
