no locs is super uncanny

New cut who dis

I used to be pay is now
I used to have locs 😏

I think it's also because right now it's cooler to hate on an artist in hip-hop than to be a stan.

Bros cut is legendary no lie you look good fam

Remember Rick Ross said numbers don’t matter then turned around and made a video about how he did more numbers than the game first week. 😆 officer 👮‍♀️ Rick really proud of his 19k first week sell 😆

the biggest problem with hip hop is there is no growth from any of the artist.  the more albums the artist release it just starts to just feel like a syndicated television show.

We got the same cut goat

Clean cut!!!!

Bro looks like ddg with the haircut

Well, it’s really not just hip-hop. You go back to the 80s and 90s and early 2000s and younger people like my age. I was a teenager in the 90s I think my generation and the generations before mine music wasn’t much bigger deal to us.

I don’t think a lot of today’s generation likes music like we did. And I’m not saying everyone from the current generation is like that and I’m not even saying it’s a bad thing. I’ve got coworkers two decades younger than me and to them they’ve got their Spotify playlist, but most artist on their list they couldn’t tell you about any album about any of the artist they listen to.

In some cases, I noticed they’ll really like a song, but when I ask him about the artist, they tell me they really only like two songs by that artist and they don’t really even know a lot about the artist.

Growing up like the music you listen to was part of your identity when an album came out we would all pile up in my piece of shit car and drive to the mall to go physically buy the album. Posters all over the bedroom of your favorite artist, buying concert, tickets, buying T-shirts.

I think now most people kind of look at music as just something to have on into the background and I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that.

But what I’m pointing out is the reason it doesn’t feel like we have legendary albums that stay around forever anymore is because that’s just not what the youth is into a new album comes out. They listen to it for a week and they’re done. Meanwhile, I still listen to the original chronic album all the way through to this day.

The chronic came out in 1992 and they were still playing music videos from that album on BET and MTV two years afterwards and it wasn’t just hip-hop metal bands like Metallica and Guns N’ Roses would still have their music videos. Played two years after the albums came out.

I think it’s really hard to make an album in 2026 of any genre of music and say that 20 years from now people will still be listening to it like we still listen to the chronic or all Eyez on me or ready to die or the Eminem show or doggy style or Illmatic

i see the new haircut , i click

Without locs you look like 06' Ludacris

A man said YK Osiris😂😂😂😂

so you're telling me that ppl from other genres extract from a multifaceted hiphop/rap genre for years because its trendy and cool then leave and go to "their" respective genres, hiphop then takes a decline when rappers put 10x the amount of music of the genres and for the last couple of years the money has been pulled from promoting hiphop artist. But the ecosystem for hiphop is providing crazy amount of revenue when it comes to social media platforms who don't highlight too much outside of Popular artist and bash the genre and talk B.S.
yea its no surprise for it to be a decline kind of like its by design

Brother we cant just kick off the video without addressing the fresh cut in the room

Afrobeats has become a big player in music today as well! I think a lot of black people moved into that space when rap a few years ago when a lot of fans felt that the mainstream rap product wasn’t as good or innovative anymore .

Your take at 16:00 is very original and I think that’s really the answer as to why rap is stuck right now and people are looking for something new to bite their teeth in. Good take

Let God Sort Em Out got outsold by Jackboys 2 first week, no one talks about Jackboys 2 anymore, Clipse has staying power because they made a quality album.

“…fans argue about record sales like they’re record execs themselves” - JID

Every time this subject comes up, sales is used as a gauge. Why? This is the streaming era and all these stats can’t compare to times in the past. This is why classic albums from the past monoculture era are still thriving. Everything released today finds it hard to stick because of how we consume it via streaming but people still consistently stream these new releases. It’s the lack of casuals streaming that brings down the numbers. All this talk is how it is not “sticking” with casuals.

Look at J Cole’s tour numbers if you must look at numbers. Look at Baby Keem’s tour which is thriving.

If you must measure how an artist is doing, you have to factor in other metrics, especially touring numbers. Today it is all about thriving in your niche. This is where the magic is. It’s kinda how Hip Hop started anyway. It was underground and thrives better in niches, especially now.

Also why are we talking about this so much and not about quality and if the music is dope or not. Sales is not always a good measurement of that. If it was Vanilla Ice’s debut album is killing everything out lol
