Keep in mind that y'all can't see the customers faces. When you're on the till and reading customer emotions, especially their impatience, it can feel way more intense and fast paced.
They spent so much effort making those self ordering screens that are extremely clear, efficient, and simple to use. Why not just give that software to the cashiers?
Thank you for sharing what happens from the POV of the cashier. I know what to be mindful of when they are looking for the buttons and dealing with all of the funky machine things.
Makes me realize how much easier it was for older diners to write down people’s orders on pieces of paper and hang them up for the chefs to cook. I wish McDonald’s did that these days, but the kiosks make it 10x easier
Im glad theyre adding self service machines to McD's now. Takes a lot of stress off of the staff, allows more customization, and is just better for people who are socially anxious.
the self ordering kiosk is such a big help, it speeds up the process. the only slow point is in receiving because some customers don't get their tray of meals right away when called, causing the server to shout the number louder.
This makes me feel a lot better about myself seeing him have a hard time finding the items on the POS. Tried it on my second day and couldn't do it lol
when I was 18 I got my first job at Mcdonalds. the manager just threw me on the POS and said it was simple to "just read it." i quit after 5 days cause that shit was too damn confusing
Turns out working in a fast food restaurant is just as unglamorous and soul-crushing as one would expect. No wonder fast food restaurants have a hard time finding employees.
