Bought my keikka 50l about 6 years ago or so and used it alot for roadtrips and going to summer house and have been happy with it. If I was to buy again I would go for a 30l and 80l and use the 30l for birding and fishing and general edc stuff if im gone for few hours and the 80l for roadtrips. For me the 50l is a bit small for 2+ nights, but I tend to overpack a bit. I have probably used it for ~ 200 trips.. shorter and longer and it looks brand new. Have the green one.. I Dont have the carrying straps, only the standard shoulder strap. Biggest drawback is it is not so nice to carry longer then few 100 meters.. but if you need a backpack there are a lot of options.. Savotta and others.
Thanks! The 30 is an awesome multi-purpose bag and is what got me started into the world of Savotta. It even sucked in my brother who promptly got a 30 too upon inspection of my Keikka 30. We are both looking at the bigger ones. I have a Griffin Sling Mod and will now play around with that too on the Keikka.
Here is a tip. Keikka 50L could take Shimoda core unit extra large dv v2. You'll now have carry-on lightweight, durable camera duffle. I've ran this setup for a while.
Awesome video as always, Tim. Savotta has a short Keikka video showing the metal shoulder strap buckles being easily slid sideways into the top side metal D-rings. That might also work for adapting Keikka straps to the Hatka. Now I need a Keikka bags ๐
I appreciate these videos Tim. Iโm not a veteran but a civilian outdoorsman and every single video, I learn something new. Started watching because the Kahakka 25L and have been keeping up since. What would be the best way of attaching logs to a Kahakka 25, something on the bottom of the bag I assume.
Great review, Tim! I have the 30 litre version, and love it, but there is one major drawback: The main carry handles are oriented in a way, that the weight does not pull on their flat side, but the "sharp", narrow side. Tricky to explain, but you can see it nicely at 1:41 - This leads to a very (!) uncomfortable carry experience, if you carry even the smallest variant for over 5 minutes (at least for me it does). I know, there are multiple carry options, but I like this one and like to minimize the number of any extra straps. Again, besides this, it is an awesome bag!
