I love how everyone is in love with the transformation and then breaks down when the hp bar doesn’t stop

This is the most hilarious moment in all of Zelda boss fights. It makes you say 'excuse me what the fuck' in the best way possible.

I love the fact that they did that so much, especially in that kind of glitchy off center way that makes it look like the Demon King is breaking the game

Thats what happens when you catch him mid-suavemente

The developers were like “yeah we heard you didn’t like when the final boss HP dropped by half in BotW, so we extended it here”

If the bar stayed the same, and Link just seemingly did less damage, it would feel like the player was somehow weaker. That’s not so fun. But with the larger health bar, we get a feeling of “HOW THE HELL IS HE EVEN STRONGER!?” which is not only more fun and surprising, but really sets the challenge of beating Ganondorf.

Another fun fact; while the other sages attack the phantom ganons first, Mineru will ALWAYS go for the real guy. Wether this be because she recognizes him as the real one or knows him more personally and resents him for taking away her brother, sister-in-law and forcing Zelda into that ultimatum as much as we would after witnessing the memories and kindess they showed us and Zelda, or a combo of both.

That health bar really helps contextualize why the sages+Rauru couldn't damage him. They probably were but he was so ridiculously strong that it didnt matter.

They could have centered the health bar, and had it just start farther left. Most games would have. But this subversion of expectations just does so much to intensify the feeling of Ganondorf's power. The health bar reaches where it should end, and then it just doesn't.

This is one of my favourite parts of Tears of the Kingdom. It's funny, but also menacing as fuck. It establishes a feeling of tension befitting of a final boss, using purely the average person's knowledge of game design. No words, and yet these few seconds before phase 2 say more than anything Ganondorf could have said.

the divine beasts didnt reduce Calamity Ganon's hp by 50%, they donated it to Demon King Ganon

i love how philza heart rate spiked to like 100 when then health kept going

Imagine only having 3 hearts left with no gloom healing food…. Then seeing that health bar go across the screen. I was like well shit I’m fucked

I bet if there comes a Master Mode, his health-bar will wrap round the whole screen like the old mobile snake game xD

His health bad going really high up gives you a feeling of him being immortal and it’s so threatening and cool! Truly peak final boss fight.

there's something so funny about them acting all chill, and then you can just barely see their eyes look up before they realize the health bar isn't stopping

This final boss just got better and better the further it went. From Ganondorf dodging your moves to his ridiciulous health bar, the sages coming to assist and then finally the absolute madman starting to flurry rush your own flurry rush AND casually removing your hearts ENTIRELY. Bruh, I have never witnessed a boss this fun and exciting in any other game.

2:43 "Ganondorf found the lotion" I'M CRYING

Ganondorf and his comedically long health bar.

What an amazing yet subtle bit of trolling from the developers. Without a word, telling the player: You ain't seen shit yet!

Haven't seen a health bar used this effectively since Deadpool in MvC3.
