Simple version: She was nothing but a mouthpiece, a manifestation of 343i's hatred of Halo and everything it stood for. And now she canonically will never exist again, given the rumors that Activision will erase all of 343's "lore".

What really grinds my gears is how they clearly dont know or dont care how Johnson should be written.

Properly written Johnson wouldn't have told MC that missions change, he would have said something like, " Chiefs got the shields, he always finds a way out. As for us, theres plenty of covi bastards to take out between here and our escape to win us a statue. "

You’d be hard pressed to find an O-4 or O-5 that would talk like this to an E-9, let alone TWO of them. Absolutely insanely "regarded" writing.

Any lieutenant addressing an E-9, especially TWO in this case, would limit their conversation to "Can I get you a coffee?" or "Let me hold that door for you".
