Nice to find a video for my exact model. Great thorough walk through and even showing the 'whoops' parts when reassembling helps avoid issues. I just had to check mine a couple days ago ( It's not used often) and the arrester screen was 80% plugged. I also have a leak in probably a fuel line so this video helps me go through it all. Especially the final tweaking to get the Sweet Spot, Many vids don't show in detail like you did. Well done and Thank You.

im with ya... and this was such a massive help... im proper strapped for cash at the moment and ive just taken on a 250yr old cottage, which has a crazy overgrown garden to the point i cant even see the cottage... the hedges are so wild but i just couldnt afford new... i payed a little over the odds for this model because the seller had it serviced with loads of pictures... just like this it starts wonderfully and is super clean but as soon as i went to use it, it bogged down... so thankyou for this because i feel like my problems are solved now... ill try these steps tomorrow!

I have a HS80 and want to compliment you on the quality of your video. Some videos are so far away it is difficult to see what the person is trying to show, but yours is excellent. Wish you were in my area in case I need backup.

I was trying to tell you the screw was still on the end of your screwdriver when you put down. lol..😁 The orange knob you were questioning at the beginning is to swivel the rear handle left or right so you can face the hedge up. 😉

The one thing id do for better performance as a tip to you. The cutter blade needs to be lubed. The thing looks drier than the sahara desert.

I have yet to see one of these single mixture adjustment carbs. It was great to be able to see exactly what adjustments you were making the whole time to hit that sweet spot.
It seems as though the adjustment is much more critical to get it where it needs to be on these. I don’t like it! 😉

I do forget this key point myself sometimes, but we should never assume anything is “factory” going in. That said, once I see someone has screwed up something basic like gasket/diaphragm order, then all bets are off and I assume anything else on a machine could be wrong as well.
Of course I’ve been known to reverse the order myself at least once, but I caught it immediately before complete reassembly. It’s that dumb human element! 😂

It drives me nuts sometimes not being able to get the mixture adjusted to the point where there’s absolutely zero WOT hesitation or delay. Seems to happen to me mostly on leaf blowers and string trimmers. I assume it’s just in the nature of the beast, but in a case like this I keep wondering whether there isn’t a friction element working against me rather than inertia of the driven parts.
In this case the entire time I kept wanting to see you pull off the transmission or gear case cover to see if all the grease or oil had dried out and was slowing down the works. It’s probably fine, but if I don’t eyeball it for myself it would nag at me forever. 😂
