Today I have three new blobby birds for you to create, and along the way I'm sharing color mixing tips, some of my favorite materials, an exciting new technique I've been trying out, and some of my behind the scenes prep work - including six more blobby bird ideas for you to try out for yourselves. I'm also giving you some insight into the not-so-easy part of creativity - the nervousness and uncertainty that can come with it. Because if you feel it too, you need to know it's not just you! So sit back and relax, and in half an hour I hope you'll be full of creativity and ready to paint.

Here's the video I mention: How to Paint Cute Colorful Birds for Begin...

Hope you all enjoy tonight’s video! (It’s night-time here in France, but obviously not more than the morning in California!) This is a really fun painting I enjoyed doing for you and hope you find time to paint along! It’s one to share with beginner painters too as there’s no complicated color mixing or techniques needed to make a pretty, frameable picture or a fun greetings card for anyone! Have fun! 😊

I love your blobby birds , thank you for your demonstration. It's lovely and relaxing watching you paint , at the same time being inspired. 🫶🌻

Your blobby birds are what drew me to you 5 years ago. They still make me smile 😊

Painted it on a postcard for a sick friend. This will make her smile. Thanks!

For a child's birthday (or just someone fun), let one bird hold a balloon, one blow a horn and maybe the one on bottom have a present at his feet.
So many options...

I love the embroidery embellishments!

@sandramckenna6133 3 months ago

Yes please. Adding simple embroidery stitches to a water colour painting would be great.

You are so full of ideas Diane! Your blobby birds manage to have so many different looks! And they are so cheerful

These cute blobby birds make me smile!

That design makes a good book mark.

Your blobby birds always make me smile. My mom was an amazing painter and I wish I would’ve started learning to paint when she was alive, but I’m happy I found you to learn from!

Yes please, demo your mixed media idea with the stitching! Holly & stitched berries, perhaps? Love your channel and easygoing style and "chatter", Diane! 😂 ❤ 🇨🇦

I tried so hard to change my name just to my middle name but my mother scoffed so much I gave in. Happily my friends christened me Bunny at the age of 48 and it has stuck. It was a little hard to tell people to use the new name at first, but I'm so glad I persevered. It fits me so much better. When my children were little I was careful never to use their names in anger. Both wanted to be called by their middle names for about a week, which I, of course, did. They both changed back and seem happy.

Love your Blobby Birds, Diane. And by the way, I love your name also. It just seems to fit your fun casual and down to earth style that we all love. Thanks for all you share with us and even your random thoughts about things. It's always like sitting with a good friend when listening to your videos. Much love! ❤🖌🎨

Diane ...I love your videos ... not just the birds, but everything you paint & teach!! I am also a sewer, quilter, embroider ... so, yes, please.... show us how you do the stitching on the bookmarks. Also, I think it would also be nice to add a few pretty seed beads to the book mark & stitching for sparkle!!

@Lorraine24_ 3 months ago

I needed something soothing and relaxing this evening and I knew that watching you paint blobby birds would be perfect!

@janicehetrick3 3 months ago

Love the bookmark, bringing embroidery into watercolor. Love the birds standing on their pals head, you do some of the cutest little critters. Keep them coming.
