I personally believe in the theory that Taleunder RPG is a recreation of Undertale from the player's memory, corrupted by possibly traumatic events that were happening around the age the player was when they played it. The horror elements aren't exactly literal but more of an emotional reality of how they felt during said trauma.

Chara wasnt a monster, they were a broken child. They loved the monsters and the underground, but they never knew they were there originally. Its implied that Chara tried to commit suicide by throwing themselves into Mt. Ebott. Instead, they found a family. But even with this family, they still had lingering hate for the othet humans, which was their motive for wanting Asriel to cross the barrier (although they also likely did want to free the monsters, because Chara did truly love them)

undertale if toby fox never escaped andrew hussie's basement

amalgamates and flowers both represent lasting but flawed memory in the original Undertale. perhaps they're similar here and this whole game just represents a memory that someone couldn't let go

I feel like the Toriel skin suit is gonna be a microcosm of what the series' main message is gonna be. It's "something else" masquerading as Toriel in the same way the entire game is "something else" masquerading as Undertale itself. It's trying to recreate the same experience as the original but it clearly comes off as flawed amateurish recreation at best. I feel like the player's sickness might not be literal but a metaphor for how the player themselves are seemingly trying to capture moments of the past but they can only find stale imitations instead as the real memories slowly fade away. The flowers might in turn represent reality or the truth in some way, as Flowey seems to be the only one with a degree of awareness of what's going on, and the thing inside fake Toriel seemingly escaped to that field of flowers at the end and may have been some kind of flower creature herself. The green flower is the biggest mystery right now considering how wary the player is of it, but if flowers represent the truth in some way, then the green flower no doubt represents something particularly painful that happened in the past if I had to guess. I can only wonder what Sans and Papyrus are gonna end up being like in this version.

You can say... this is sure a weird route

Edit: I did not expect this much attention for a bad pun

4:51 ...ohh! Oh this is a beta undertale reference.
So basically back I want to say a couple weeks before the game went live for steam fox decided to beta test his game and ended up finding a wall missing it's border in the ruins and out of curiosity he decided to see how far he'd go.
Within 20 minutes of going up he made it to the flower garden.
So toby knowing this he fixed this and that's how the incorrect pixel on the floor was born

if unused2 is so good where’s unused 1

I like the idea that this is the version of Undertale that happened when toby fox's Kickstarter wasn't successful and he tried to make up for it by adding more horror elements to the game

38:24 toriel tells to prove that DESERVE to go home, not why, a small but important difference that makes this “toriel” seem like a far worse person

I'm of the mindset that the kitchen at the end didn't have an explosion in it, but instead reality (or at least whatever facade was put up to look like Toriel's home) had been torn open to allow the "Skinwalker" a way to escape the (probably deteriorating) skin suit and get out of sight before the player could see them.
Is it a secret room lying within the darkened, almost fleshy hole of flowers?
Or is it the true body of this world, with merely a Faux-Underground built around it?

if you didn't notice her skin starts to deform slightly if you try to get out of the ruins at the end of the video

Genuinely the most stupidest shit i ever said. He already showed us it 😭

34:35 I’m surprised this text here wasn’t talked about, this alongside the pailing, the butterflies, the memories seem to imply frisk and/or the player are dead

There’s going to be more of these “scary Undertale” than “bloody mario” at this rate

the backrooms trying to remember undertale

i do not like the fact that they're as afraid of mirrors as i am 😭

Is it just me or is the "uncanny" toriel icon cute!!

45:00 "did something happen to toriel?" Surely not. She's perfectly fine! Skin suits are common in the underground 😭💀

Thanks so much for having me draw this thumbnail! It was a lot of fun! 😁

12:17 She looks like it hurts
