President Grant is a true American hero

However, Mr. President General Ulysses Simpson Grant is an icon for the United States Military during the Civil War, he succeeded in making General Robert E. Lee's troops surrender at Appomatox Supreme Court Virginia in 1865, and this victory also brought change to the United States. Slavery was abolished forever and at the same time the United States was reunited, the Reconstruction era was implemented. After Grant was elected President for two terms, one of his best legacies was the 14th and 15th Amendments to the United States Constitution which also made Grant the first President of the Human Rights Civil Act, he was a brave and tough man in his time and deserves respect. Respectfully, General Grant, I am from Indonesia 🇮🇩

An interesting icon who did it hard and humbly.

Thank you for your service on and off the battlefield, President Grant. God bless you.

I was at his house in Galena, IL. Beautiful house.

God bless General Grant ❤He saved our Republic. May he rest in peace.🙏🙏

Great General Grant 👍

There is a house in my area that’s named the grant house. He lived in it for a little while after he was president. It’s on officers row, in Vancouver, Washington.

Visit the Grant Presidential Library at Mississippi State University. It is ten million dollar addition to the the Mitchell Memorial Library. There is a John Gresham wing in the library also.

I read Grant's memorires some years ago and the introduction explains that he wrote them to provide some income for his wife after his death. Presidents had no pensions in those days, and no one elsedie either.

Great documentary

Excellent, very informative video.  Thank you.

God Bless him.

Wonderful, thank you

Great video.  Thank you.

Grant had a house in Burlington New Jersey too and also stayed on the coast in Long Branch - that one is gone though

Western Marylander.  General Grant's FIL Mr. Dent lived in Cumberland, MD, before he moved to Missouri.  The
Dent family  lived beside the Custer family. Emmanuel Custer,  the father of the infamous General George Custer. Custer did a good job at Gettysburg, but he should NEVER have attacked Native Americans  at Little Big Horn! The Custer family later moved from Maryland to Monroe, Michigan! 🫡🫡🫡🧢🧢🧢🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲The UNION FOREVER is also the name of a famous  UNION Army fight song!

I will buy his books

This is really great. I had known of Grant thru his relationship with Grenville Dodge, Chief Engineer of UP RR. AJ Russell, UP photographer, took two photos of the meeting at Fort Sanders, WY., in a hot July day of 1868, in which a showdown between Dodge and UP Vice Pres. Thomas Durant occurred. Dodge had threatened to quit due to Durant meddling with the RR building effort. In one photo, Dodge is on the left side, as far away from Durant as he can get, LOL. Grant is in the middle, under the bird cage, determined to see this massive effort completed...quite a scene, and can be viewed on line.  Grant was the nominee for Pres. by this time, and his personality shows how determined he was. Barry Colms in 1969, published under the aspisces of the Oakland Museum, Russell's full sized format-photos...pretty impressive and pithy commentary by Colms. Thanks, and this is a great video production. PS: I particularly like Steve Trimm's portrayal of Grant. I found an affinity with AJ Russell, and dress like him when giving talks concerning the building of the Overland Route. Russell was not given credit for the most famous photo of the 19th Century, "The wedding of the Rails" until the 1960's. It was thought that THAT photo was by CR Savage, of SLC, a friend of Russell's. And, Grant is emerging as a greater figure than 'was given credit for. The more folks see this history, the greater our appreciation is, for our past. Thanks, again.

Buddy crushed his US Grant role
