Paul Di'Anno was made for PROWLER. Bruce doesn't have enough anger in him for this song, and Paul's punk style fits it perfectly. He's perfect for it and it's a perfect song
Hot take: Maiden's first two albums are actually pretty underrated. Sure, it's not as refined as their later work, but it still has some of the strongest bangers they've ever written: Iron Maiden, Prowler, Phantom of The Opera, Remember Tomorrow, Killers, Wrathchild etc. It's pretty beloved around here in Brazil
Plus Paul is actually a pretty good vocalist and fitting in the style of the first 2(I actually took a photo with him :) ), despite Bruce being way better
The best album is definitely Seventh son of a Seventh son, dynamic, the story telling, the melodies, drum patterns, the atmosphere just beyond my childhood life and it still gives me chills at my 22 years of life🗿
I was listening to a NWOBHM playlist and all I could think of was that I totally get it why Iron Maiden is the most popular. They just did everything better than the other bands doing similar music. Song structure, riffs, basslines, melodies, solos, vocals (both Di'anno and Dickinson), just about everything was on point whereas other bands were lacking at least one aspect
The fact that he skipped the 3 most famous songs of number of the beast 😱😱. And the best on : hallowed be thy name. This song IS m'y favorite of all groups, it's just incredible
I think The X Factor is underrated, it's very different to the others and dark but it always felt to me a class above Virtual XI. Also obviously Bruce is their best vocalist, but Afraid To Shoot Strangers with Bailey just sounds better. (there's the official video with this lineup on youtube)
