I love that Trevor always takes the chance to shout out behind the scenes workers that make the whole MLB operation run as smoothly as it does

Hey Trevor. My son is a HS Senior and was pitching in his 2nd to last game against a vastly superior opponent. He had held them to 3 runs before one of their batters hit a comebacker that hit him square in the nose. He went down and his nose was broken, but fortunately no skull or orbital fractures. Heck of a way to end your senior year.

Could you do a shout-out short to him? His name is Roy. I know it would mean the world to hear encouragement from a real MLB pitcher.

My son did 3 seasons as AA video guy for southern league, long bus trips,late night diners. He had 3 AAA trips tracking specific players, hotels, resort amenities upscale dining. The show must be out of the world

Hey Trevor, I would be curious to know what its like when you are a MLB player but get sent down to AAA on rehab or assignment. Some players have multiple options and bounce back and forth from Major to AAA. When you are used to the MLB travel but head back to the minors, what's it like... Food, travel, etc.

The thing about Detroit downtown is that it is not crowded down there. A lot of people bailed on the place, but there are a lot of small business owners operating there. It's got big city stuff without big city traffic. Been there for business a bunch of times and loved it every time. AND it's the birthplace of techno, so there is that.

I only heard about the traveling secretary through George Costanza.

Great point SUNSCREEN. Played LL through college and then 20 years of softball. They recently took a piece off the top of my ear, skin cancer. I swear it was all that time on the field on sunny days with my ears outside of a baseball hat.

I work in the clubhouse for the AAA Isotopes and almost everything is the same from the examples you gave. I’ll answer any questions too

The New York Yankees ended up switching their usual hotel in Pittsburgh after they ended up having to share the venue with the Anthrocon furry convention.

Although apparently the Yankees security guy tried to throw his weight around and basically demand the convention vacate thr public areas of the venue, except Anthrocon's head of security was former special forces and took absolutely no guff from anyone.

As a Yankees fan here in NY, I have the upmost respect for Boston not touching Fenway Park. I absolutely love the old time ballparks.

I don't know about now, but back in the 90's and early 2,000's, a lot of the teams used the same hotels when on the road. I know for a fact the Pirates and the Cubs both stayed at the Hyatt in downtown Cincinnati when playing the Reds. Many of the players would walk to the stadium before and after the games. It's about a 5 or 6 block walk.

Thanks for the insight. Phillies fan here, have you ever been through a Manager change during the season. If yes, what was it like in the clubhouse…managers are canned because teams are not performing well, how did the players take it. I’m sure they see it coming, player only meetings, who talks, the under performing Vets, does blame become vocal? Cannot imagine what it does especially for a player liked manager like Topper.

This video made me laugh because as an airline pilot we also rank cities and talk the same among us. “This hotel and overnight stinks. No food, nothing to do!”

@BranWantheBarbarian 5 months ago

Can you do a part two for this. This is super interesting.

@conrad4667 4 months ago

The hotel should agree to its restaurant staying open late enough to feed all the players.

I got to play in the Williamsport Pa Little Leaque stadium, and then 25 years later, work it's security. We were given access to everything, food, candy, the pool and dorms. Had a lot of fun.

Interesting stuff…..as a clubbie/batboy in the 70s for the Brewers lots of stories…greenies, roadies, roomies….

Mets fan here and I’m surprised that Busch stadium didn’t make the list. That park is great and nice city with nice people.

Really interesting. Have always wondered about the hotel room reservations. Thanks man!

You're so right about Nats Park in the summer...90's most days, and gazillion percent humidity more days than not...that's why my seats are in the shade whether I've bought the ticket, or it's in my plan. But it's also far enough north that from Opening Day through mid-May, there car be iffy weather. I've been to early season games when I've been bundled up like I'm on a ski trip. From late April to mid-May there can be the chance of a tornado watch and/or a torrential thunderstorm for both afternoon and evening games...extended rain delays usually morph into split doubleheaders the next day.
