Ryu and akuma went from fighting to the death.

To casual sparring every Tuesday night.

Just like Gen did in his SF5 story, Akuma is rattled by Ryu's words in their clash here, which is why he starts to get angry. It shows how he has seen he may become the strongest, but he won't reach the peak so readily by denouncing his humanity and by not realizing he ENJOYS the fight. It also further shows he may be slightly losing control of the Satsui no Hado, or it's beginning to overwhelm him little by little.

Akuma at the beginning was carving the statues from the Alpha 1 animated movie, peak reference.

10:17 OMFG that smile was more deadly, than any of the Satsui No Hado moves 😂😂😂😂😂😂
