I spent over 20 years inside some of the busiest Social Security offices in America, and 30+ years in government service overall. I am not SSA and I do not speak for the government. I’m a former insider who now works for you.

How I got here…
-Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and became a sergeant.
-Became a frontline caseworker helping low-income households with Medicaid and SNAP.
-Joined the Social Security Administration and worked my way up to District Manager, running one of the busiest SSA offices in the country for over 20 years.
-Spent thousands of hours watching people get hurt by confusing letters, rushed phone calls, and bad information.
-Retired from SSA and started teaching these rules in plain English on YouTube so ordinary Americans could finally get straight answers.
-Built the MyGovExpert YouTube channel to 750,000+ subscribers and 2,000+ videos

Got a message saying they are now receiving my income info from my job. I am on a FMLA. Had to use all of my sick leave and annual leave. Obviously they're dragging their feet. You wouldn't believe what they have done to me when going to the SS office. These people are crazy.
Btw, it is MY MONEY. Yet seems like we have to beg for it when needed. They treat you like a criminal.

I've had several failed work attempts, a couple days one year, a couple weeks another, made conditions worse to the point of being hospitalized from the attempt...Social Security sure takes money out of those checks, but it's impossible to actually USE the program.
SSDI, from my perspective, is a scam. Also, from what I've seen, trying to work and overcome your disability is punished. No wonder people get on it and vanish onto mom's couch or whatever. If it wasn't for the VA, I'd be totally screwed.
Meanwhile, there is a woman in the news who was in a car accident (has some back/neck injury), got SSDI, then was posting on her social media about winning a tree throwing contest. Among other events. Tree throwing.
