My most traumatic ski day since my head-on ski collision with my good friend at Grand Targhee 51 years ago where Russell was my rescuer. I don't remember about 8 hours of that day! Hopefully, Russell will remember more of this day! When he said he had a cold butt I knew he was going to be alright!

it’s so scary how “ok” people feel after a concussion. amazing first responders- not making him feel weird but also doing everything possible to comfort him and get him to safety. 💛💛💛💛

They're so patient, answering the same questions every thirty seconds while he insists he's fine. It's so interesting that the brain can recognise that you can't remember basic things but not really perceive why that's a big deal.

Its so unnerving to watch someone happily going about their day, knowing that theyre abt to get hurt. Like, its such a weird feeling

Your brain entered automatic breathing mode instantly even after you smashed it into the ground and went unconscious, redundant systems ftw

Its the repeating questions that really tell the story of how hard you knocked you head. Your brother was probably feaking out possible memory issues.

I've got to say, 4:19-4:34 is such an intense, scary segment. The pole rolls to a stop, your arm slowly, slowly falls, your breathing is so distorted and unnatural... I'm so glad I knew how the rest of the video went before I watched it, it was bad enough as it was...

Thank god we treat concussions more seriously these days. I had a bad one as a kid back in 1992 and somehow made it to the emergency room and home again without them even realizing it. It wasn’t until I kept asking my parents why I had a cast on my arm over and over again that they realized we better go back to the hospital.

Talks crap about old ski boots, gets immediately knocked out.

Sorry to say I laughed a bit at that, perfect comedic timing.

It’s the same tone the other brother used as when he was making fun of his boots. And then when he said, “Russel do you know who I am?” And he said with no annunciations “you’re Edward”… the under expressed but felt relief on Edward’s face…

I have never seen a concussion first hand. This footage is surreal. I hope the man made a full recovery. And thank you for posting this. That short term memory loss would have me panicking if it was someone I knew going through it.

With nearly 20 years of ski patrolling under my belt, trust me, we don't mind the repetitive questions! You're talking to us, which means your air way is open, breathing is good, and circulation is working. Once those ABC's are met, we don't mind a bit. In fact, I love when I can make a list of every question you've asked repeatedly, the answer to the questions, and the subsequent question and answers. Because then every time you start over, I can show you the list and have the process sped up. While it does have some entertainment value, it also lets me keep track of how often your memory is resetting. If your memory resets stay the same or get longer apart, I know that while your bell is rung, your condition isn't getting rapidly worse. If the time between resets is getting shorter, I know that I need to make sure the responding EMS knows this, so they can respond faster and select an appropriate hospital.

Glad to know you're alright! Also, if you haven't already, you should get a new helmet. :)
