I cannot adequately express to you how grateful I am to you for the comfort you prepared & delivered in this and so many of your other episodes you prepared & provided all of your viewers/listenets . This 68-year-old Upper Canadian Anglican whose church no longer provides such feelings of home greatly appreciates & is comforted by your work.
You ended this episode with what, I humbly submit, is one of the greatest of all works ever composed and arranged in the canon on English, Scots, Irish & Welsh music ever composed. And that includes Be Thou My Vision and a great many other ancient works.
Please stay well & safe,
Your music & interpretation are those that comforted those who lost family members whose family members were among The Fallen of The Great War and WWII, and other conflicts during which They Fell.
For us, thank you so very much! God bless & preserve you.
Another day dawns and I am sitting in my little flat overlooking the sea listening to your wonderful hymn playing. What joy you bring to my life every day with your great talent. Thank you is not enough ❤
I love your music. I'm a retired United Methodist pastor. I can't wait till Sunday to hear music and the history. Thank you for making my Sunday a treasure.
Ben.... You may have topped yourself in emotional presentations. This was very, very special. You're not alone in succumbing to spontaneous tears. I really appreciate your integration of church and national history with music. It has always been special to me how English hymn tunes are so often named for places of particular emotional significance. Thanks again and always.
Come down, O Love Divine played on a Walker organ in Down Ampney is such a fitting memory to Vaughan Williams. At Evensong this afternoon in Wells Cathedral, I thanked God for the great pleasure the Salisbury Organist has given us all with hymns and organ music, almost reducing his many subscribers to tears.
I will always remember walking into my kitchen and RVW Lark Ascending was playing on the radio, I had never heard the piece before, as I was absolutely captivated with the music, an image instantly come to my mind of a bird flying, when it finished and the radio presenter named the piece of music I couldn’t believe how absolutely right RVW had got it . I have loved his music ever since. Telling this to a work colleague, they said, “ everyone seems to remember where or when they first heard this absolutely beautiful piece of music “ and it is so true. Thank you for your brilliant channel, peace and love everyone ❤
It finally clicked how much I enjoy the fact that the tours you share with us are quiet, without a congregation or public event. The solitude makes them magical. I loved the tour, loved the beautiful modern stained glass, loved the hymns -- I love Vaughan Williams in general. The first time I heard "Lark Ascending" I burst into tears. Fabulous.
If you were an old geezer (like I am), your videos would be much less enjoyable. Because you are so young, I feel this wave of hope when I watch you, hope that even in an age of AI and beyond, there will be musicians playing hymns on old organs. Thanks.
