Gengar might've gotten outclassed but factors like losing Levitate and the Explosion nerf were also real horrendous and undeserved blows to it.

Me, a Crobat fan wiping sweat off my face and going "PHEW" when Fezandipiti was made Poison/Fairy with an awful Stat spread

Jokes on you my Bulbasaur has no power to creep

Honorable Mention: Arcanine and Hitmontop getting powercrept by Incineroar.

Scratch that: EVERY Pokémon that has Intimidate and learns Fake Out getting powercrept by Incineroar.

Why doesn’t Gamefreak simply fire this Power Creep who keeps making Pokémon outclassed?

salamence is also outclassed by dragonite in vgc because dragonite’s inner focus makes it immune to fake out flinches and intimidate, both being vgc constants.
Also he’s outclassed in the intimidate role too.

This thumbnail is perfect.
Too perfect, poor Gengar…

Gengar got shafted so hard for no reason. It was the only ghost poison with levitate, letting it come in for free on ground moves and threaten a ton of pokemon. Then it lost hidden power, explosion nerf, elemental punches became physical, lost levitate, and then Megas lost abilities. They GUTTED my boy
