One small correction, 57:48 should be "deeper breath support compared to Pons" not Gasparyan, but same logic also applied to Gasparyan, both pale in comparison to Callas (and Remola is even worse).

Another correction: Birgit Nilsson is NOT better than Renata Tebaldi and had sharp, shrill high notes, no way her high notes are good.

Callas' work stands at its own high standard. It can't be ruined because somebody said so and so was better in a particular role. Callas' artistry remains whatever comparisons anyone makes. Let them make their comparisons and give their opinions, let them say what they will, they can't destroy with their words what she achieved though her voice and soul. Her very special powers of communication. 50 years from now folks will still be responding to the sound of Callas' voice and her artistry. Absolutely nothing can stop that.

Ingeborg Bachmann once perfectly put it: "She is the only one who has legally entered the stage."

Thank you for making one of the greatest videos ever made on YouTube. For me, Callas and Shalyapin are the two greatest opera singers precisely for their ability of ACTING and CONSISTENTLY ALWAYS putting on the correct characterization of characters. For Callas, the diverse characters of Medea, Abigaille, Norma, Lucia, Leonora, Lady Macbeth, Kundry, Anna Bolena, Amina, Tosca, Mimi, etc and for Shalyapin, he had Fillipo II, Boris, Varlaam, Pimen, Farlaf, Basilio, Leporello, Mefistofele, Mephistopheles, Don Quichotte, Salieri, Galitsky, etc

The amount of haters she still has is insane. She can’t help but live rent free in their heads. Her genius transcends generations.

Es muy difícil ser un hater de la Callas, cada vez se quedan sin argumentos contra la divina. Cuando todo es sencillo, la Callas estaba tocada por Dios y era capaz de todo con su maravilloso instrumento vocálico y punto. No valen comparaciones, ni argumentos rebuscados para minimizar su descomunal talento. Dios la hizo así y ya está. Gracias por el video.

I am a Callas LOVER for more than 50 years, I know every recorded she sang and all her speeches.
It could have been a very interesting video, but you went definitely often into absurdity.
Callas had often too dark and unintelligible vowels, especially later in her career.
Callas had sometimes wobbly notes  even in live Armida, Traviata and Puritani 1952, in 1955 Lucia, the final A of Senza mamma, the high B halfway Lakme in 1954, and many times especially after 1954.
Her chest notes were strong, powerful and chilling until low C. Below that she had low notes but weak. Listen to her low B in Macbeth 1952, low Aflat in Sonnambula 1955 and in Samson 1961, the Bolena Bflat that you mentioned, and her famous burp instead if a F sharp in 1951 Vespri.
All this doesn’t take anything away from her enormous greatness, but it’s also misleading to debunk her obvious flaws.
Yes Tebaldi’s legato was faulty and she had vulgar and bad taste, but still it was a amazing rich warm voice, definitely louder than Callas.
Dimitrova never had wobbles!
Sutherland had no diction at all and was often dull, but she had amazing coloratura and ringing high notes like very few sopranos, have you ever heard her live?..

I would agree that at her best, she was absolutely better than anyone. I think she set the bar so high, that when she wasn’t as good as she once was, the flaws became glaring. Callas epitomized certain artistic and musical ideals where she truly created a fusion between music and drama and I feel that while people might accept another singer for just their voice, with Callas they really hold her to that ideal. I think the bravery and clarity of her interpretations perhaps draws more attention to what can be perceived as less than perfect. But yes, nonetheless, she imo is on a completely different level than any other singer

Lots of silliness here, both in the video and in the comments.  It isn't a matter of "hating" Callas or proving the "haters" wrong with a score card. She was great in the ways she was great, and flawed in the ways she was flawed, and it's much more productive to observe all of those things as closely as we can, and learn from them, than to construct arguments to make either the greatness or the flaws seem untrue.  In most vocal ways, she was more related to the singers who came before her than those who came after, but in the matter of vibrato, she was definitely closer to recent singers like Yoncheva. In coloratura agility, she was closer to those who came WAY before, not shortly before--and thanks to her example, many of those who came after have stepped up and come closer to her standards. In most musical ways, I'd say she was beyond any soprano we can hear from either the older school(s) or the newer..  But it does not serve her memory to pretend that her vibrato problems were OK.

All Callas haters lost their minds. Callas is absolutely perfect!!!!!
